Lapis Wire Wrapped in Yellow Brass Pendant

 

I love lapis. 

Do I love it because blue is my favorite color, and lapis is that beautiful, bold, cobalty blue? Maybe the energy behind the color blue itself is what draws me.  Does Lapis share any of the energies with the color? Do I love lapis because of it's metaphysical properties?  

What is it!!??

I find this very interesting.....

Blue: the color of communication, peace, protection and clarity

Throat chakra: the color blue, for communication

Lapis: the stone of truth, deep communication, friendship and harmony

and I can go on and on and on.

How awesome is the correlation between the color, the chakra and the stone.

Tanzanite Pendant - Jewelry with Purpose - Transformation

At Bonnaroo every year, one of my favorite places to stop and shop is Twisted Bliss Designs. 

This year I got a fairy quartz (top) and a tanzanite! (bottom) 

I was so excited about this purchase. That tanzanite was the perfect shape to wrap for a pendant. 

Tanzanite is a stone of transformation, dissolves old patterns of karma, which allows you to move on and get off that karma wheel!

Chalcedony has many faces, just like all stones. When you have the beautiful solid color stone, that is set in earrings, ring or in your favorite pendant, that is what most of us think of when we think of chalcedony. 

But wait there is more!!

Chalcedony (I used to pronounce it Chal-si-doney) really is the mother of all stones. When you break down the stones family tree, These varieties include agate, carnelian, onyx, sardonyx, chrysoprase, jasper, bloodstone, chert, and flint. Which all come from quartz!!

These earrings are chalcedony with jasper, just not what is considered the best quality stone, because it is not a solid classic chalcedony color. 

The jewelry store quality doesn't take away from the stones properties. 

Chalcedony is a nurturing stone (just like jasper is nurturing and gentleness)  that promotes brotherhood and good will. It absorbs negative energy. It brings the mind, body, emotions and spirit into harmony. Chalcedony instills feelings of benevolence and generosity.

Copper Wire Wrapped Serpentine Donut Pendant - Not Jade

A lot of times you will see serpentine sold as jade. But this isn't the case. Serpentine has a waxy feel to its finish, and is light weight. It also makes more of a thunk when tapped. Jade has a glassy smoother finish and is heavier than it looks. It also makes a 'tink' when tapped. 

If you have bought this stone before, meaning serpentine, but you were told it was jade, never fear. Serpentine is a beautiful little stone with amazing properties!

Serpentine is a great stone for meditation opening doors for spiritual exploration. It helps with directing healing energy toward problem areas. Think of it as your guide to past lives, helping you regain those lost memories and wisdom.

Multi Color Disk Bead Wire Wrapped Necklace and Earrings on Yellow Brass

I found a strands of these rainbow colored disk beads of dyed howlite. I fell in love at first site. 

I had to have them. 

Now what to do with them. 

I have had them for well over 2 years really wondering what I could do with them, other than the occasional accent bead in earrings or pendant. 

I was pushing them around on my work bench, and then just for fun began to stack them. 

That was when I go the idea!

Wire wrap the stacks into segments and make a necklace out of them. 

I used 20 ga yellow brass wire for the links and 18 ga yellow brass wire to make the hook. 

I added an accent of vintage crystal to the hook. 

It can be worn, with hook in front or in back. 

Versatile little necklace!

The earrings I wire wrapped on 18 ga yellow brass with a hammered spiral on the bottom. 

The ear wires are of hammered 20 ga yellow brass. 

  

Howlite is used to relieve anxiety, tension and stress.

Maybe that is why it is dyed so many happy, bright colors!

Wire Wrapped Natural Amethyst Pendant

Amethyst is a type of quartz. typically forms in crystal clusters in geodes. Amethyst can also be found opencast in veins and in druzy cavities in larger rocks.  The size and color of the points vary, which dictates the value of the stone.

you can see the points, or 'teeth' and how they fit together like a puzzle piece.

If a large geode is broken or dropped the points can fall out of the geode
providing a beautiful sample to wrap!

 

Thus is the case with this piece of amethyst. I have a collection of points that I use to wrap as jewelry, pendulums or to use as a pocket stone or a stone for a medicine bag. 

This made a really big, fun pendant with a simple hippie wrap. 

Amethyst is and artist stone, promoting creativity. 

The shape of this stone, the textures, the lines not only peak a creative interest in me, but also satisfy a my tactile nature.

Amethyst - Peace and Calm

Amethyst is the stone of peace and calm, creativity, all healing, an artists stone, it keeps your head in the game, balance and temperance and more. 

It is the birthstone of February, and the sobriety stone

I have quite the collection of amethyst beads in tear drops, faceted brioletes, faceted roundels, chips, coin, natural points and various sizes of rounds. 

While putting together some amethyst pieces to post for February, I came across this little heart shaped amethyst focal bead. 

I didn't want to take away from the heart by wrapping it too ornately, so I kept it simple. A bale, and a tiny spiral. Done.

The heart shape and smoothness of the stone, really resonated the peace and calm that is associated with this stone. 

This little one is spoken for, and will be going on a cruise this week. :)

Dendritic Agate - What Are the Properties of this Stone!

Let's talk about dendritic agate!

Dendritic agate is a stone in the chalcedony family, "agate" , with manganese inclusions, called dendrites - thus the name :)

The color of the agate can be from clear to white with the manganese inclusions, you may even see a white agate with green inclusions, called Tree Agate. 

Dendritic agate is the stone of plenty and abundance. It has been known to be buried in soil of garden beds and farm lands to promote healthy and large yields from crops. 

This stone resembles the branches of a tree or plant and in turn is known for healing the skeletal, nervous and vascular system, which also 'branch' out in us. 

It is a great stone of protection and inner peace.  It promotes a peaceful environment. Great fo those with a green thumb. 

I love looking at the patterns of this agate. This stone and I have had several long moments together. Each time I pick it up to work with it, I find myself getting lost in its patterns and beauty, that I never get anything done! Because of the patterns and how I get lost in it, it is also a great stone for digging deep inwardly.  Use with meditation or self exploration and discovery and in turn healing of the past. 

I will wrap this into a pendant, I really will :)

Porcelain, Ceramic and Faceted Jasper Earrings

I love rondells! To me, they make the best earrings because of the way they stack.

I found a strand of 12mm dyed porcelain beads at Michaels, of mixed colors, so bright and cheery, a rainbow on a string!! I fell in love with them. I wish I would have bought every strand they had!

I have used these beads in so many different earrings because they are light weight, bright, and being rondells, they allow you to stack, stack, STACK!!!!!

The green rondells are the focal of this design, and is perfectly complimented with the pink and brown speckled ceramic and copper. It just fits!

I added a small 4mm faceted jasper to the bottom of the earring for a 'base'. Jasper is the stone of gentleness and nurturing. 

I love creating jewelry with a purpose, that is why I work with the metaphysical properties of the stones. I want jewelry to be more than an accessory, I want it to accent your soul, lift your mood, create confidence and support you and where you are emotionally and spiritually today!

Agate and Jasper Necklace - Harmony - People Helping People

I saw a plea on Facebook for items for a silent auction for an acquaintance who was burned. He burned his hand badly, and he works with his hands, so while he is rehabilitating, people are coming together to help out.

People are coming together. It is a beautiful thing, and a real thing. People can look passed themselves and see the need in others and help out. It isn't hard.

I offered to donate jewelry to the auction, then I had to sit down and think about it. What do I want this jewelry to represent.

Jasper is gentleness, it drives away “evil spirits” and to protect you.  Also aids in balancing the mind and body and stabilizes healing.

Agate is harmony and balance

Amazonite soothes tense, aggravated emotions and situations.


 It all came together beautiful. When I look at it, it looks like a piece that would be worn by a gentle spirit, a spirit that genuinely loves humanity. Tiny Cluster, Simple Statement

Sometimes I think I am ahead of the trend. 

I love the simple look of the cluster necklaces, it gives just that tiny pop of flash and color. Making a statement without screaming it upon entrance. Cluster necklaces are a great way to use your one off beads from previous designs, a great way to make new memories out of an older piece of jewelry that may have broken, and you don't have all the pieces.  They are really versatile, and I am seeing them everywhere now!!! 

I like to make them longer, opera length, for an over the head design, so you don't have to worry about a clasp (keeps costs down). Add a coordinating bead to the chain where the clasp would have been instead.  This is aventurine, jade, calcite and swarovski, for love and prosperity.  It also is brilliant fall colors. 

Headed to the mountains this weekend, maybe I will take it with me and wear it in honor of the foliage change!

Apatite - Creativity

I went to the bead show last weekend to look for some beads for a custom order, some new strands to spark my creativity because I am doing a trunk show at The Purple Loft Art Gallery in OKC in Aug, and to look for some apatite for myself. I wasn't for sure what I wanted in this stone. Did I want beads for a necklace or bracelet? Maybe some earrings. Did I want a small stone for wrapping for a pendant? I figured I would let the stones talk to me while I was shopping and see what happened. 

There were so many beautiful stone bead strands there, it was hard to keep my focus. I had to touch all of them!!! I think I did well choosing my selection, and the creations have started to flow!

While shopping I walked by this little beauty three times. The last time by, it was time to commit. It was talking to me saying, "you are a pendant wearer, I am perfect for a pendant!!!" So I obliged, and bought it. I wrapped it in sterling silver, and the wire went around it almost by itself!

Gemstones that you wear around your neck are the ones that affect your personality.  These are also close to your heart which works with your desires.  Apatite is used by artists and others who wish to have more creativity in their lives to increase their creativity and imagination.  It may be used as an interface point between consciousness and matter to translate our humanitarian aspirations into healing, information, communication and teaching.  It supports creative ideas and bringing them into reality, as well as developing the business skills needed to make a living from one's passions.

Little Charms Sending a Big Message - Charm Necklaces

Charms are the big thing heading into fall 2016 according to Harper's. 

I love the simple statement that a charm cluster makes. That simple statement by no means is less powerful in the right combinations. 

This piece is light blue hand made ceramic bead with little spots. It is playful with the seed bead charms,  and the color blue let's people know you are a believer in peace. Paired with a tiny chalcedony bead for brotherhood, and look at what you are saying!

Revisitng Old Designs - Finding New Meaning

Strolling down memory lane thru the photo albums on my Facebook page, I found a bunch of old earring designs that were simple statements, and really nice. I had moved away from that style and many others in my quest for the perfect design, and find it funny that when I revisit them, I am amazed at what I had done in my infant stages of creativity and really wonder why I left it.

So I decided to use my own designs as inspiration and made a few new pairs. 

These are just simple copper loops, hammered at the bottom of the loop to create stability and offer texture. 

Then add one bead as an accent. Maybe add spacers or crystals to help it talk a bit louder.

Yes I said talk, that is what my jewelry does, it talks. It speaks to the soul thru the energies of the stones.

My jewelry speaks of love and hope, kindness and peace. All things that are needed in our day to day lives, but may get lost due to job or life stress. My jewelry is a little reminder that it is ok, there is hope, someone does love you and it is possible to find peace.

Moonstone - A Personal Journey

I am going to deviate from my normal posts for awhile and take you on a personal journey with me.

I have created two new pieces of jewelry made with moonstone for myself.

I have really been gearing up and making new pieces and re working my booth for the show.I haven't done any shows for a while, and am really looking forward to getting back into it. I love the excitement of preparing for the show and actually the work of the show, meeting people, making connections - so much fun! I am excited to have a Square, and that I am taking credit cards again. That is a big help for sales.

Celebrating Libra's in October!

So many October birthdays in my family and in the people I know. I will contribute it to Valentines day :)

So what do they say about Libras?

Latin for "the Balance" or "the Scales", from the Greek word Zygos. Libra is balance and achieving balance is their life goal. Libra will work with concentration and relax with dedication. Libras can captivate others with their sharp intellects, allowing them to entertain people for hours, they are equally awesome listeners. Making decisions can certainly be tricky as you need to analyse things carefully in order to make the very best decision which often sees the scales get tipped back and forth in the process. Continual assessment, consideration and evaluation are mentally exhausting... but with all of these experiences come discernment and confidence.

Librans love beauty and can seem superficial as they place emphasis on the visual beauty, however they can also see unseen beauty in those that most of us would not see. Beauty flows through them in creative expressions like music as well as the arts.   Some Libras do seek perfection, which can make life trying for those who live with them.  Love and marriage is important to Libra. (My daughter is libra - so true!!)

Birthstones for Libras can be sapphire if born in September or topaz if born in October.

But wait there's more!

Don't limit yourself to one stone. So many may speak to you. Bloodstone for example is a great stone for Libras (my daughters favorite). It aligns all levels. It strengthens the will to 'do good'. (works with the Libras desire for justice) It helps you to be present in the moment. Bloodstone also assists to revitalise love, relationships and friendships.(Love and relationships are very important to Libras) Use to dispel states of bewilderment and obscure thought. (because you know Libras need order!)

Fresh Water Pearl Cluster

Everywhere I look I see this color combination, I blame it on Vera Bradley :)

I am still so in love with these clusters, and something about pearls, whether fresh water or cultured, just gives class! This one makes me fell all dressed up and special.

Did you know pearls give purity and promote faith, charity, and integrity, truth and loyalty. They especially enhance personal integrity.
