Lapis Wire Wrapped in Yellow Brass Pendant

 

I love lapis. 

Do I love it because blue is my favorite color, and lapis is that beautiful, bold, cobalty blue? Maybe the energy behind the color blue itself is what draws me.  Does Lapis share any of the energies with the color? Do I love lapis because of it's metaphysical properties?

Blue: the color of communication, peace, protection and clarity

Throat chakra: the color blue, for communication

Lapis: the stone of truth, deep communication, friendship and harmony

and I can go on and on and on.

How awesome is the correlation between the color, the chakra and the stone.

Beautiful tear drop shape, and what I love most, it is a natural finish! No high gloss on this stone. 

It was so easy to wrap.

Ruby in Zoisite Pendant

Ruby in zoisite such a sweet little stone. I got these square faceted top drilled beads from Fire Mountain Gems. 

Each bead is about 18mm square and when wrapped makes them just about an inch. 

The red or the ruby varies between each bead, some more than others and not always on both sides of the bead. Which is pretty cool for a pendant style, because you can wear it either way, and it can be more versatile!

I have paired these little beads with copper and sterling, both wire showcases the beautiful little stone.

Ruby in zoisite is the stone of happiness and abundance.  

 I know it makes my heart happy!!!

Multi Color Disk Bead Wire Wrapped Necklace and Earrings on Yellow Brass

I found a strands of these rainbow colored disk beads of dyed howlite. I fell in love at first site. 

I had to have them. 

Now what to do with them. 

I have had them for well over 2 years really wondering what I could do with them, other than the occasional accent bead in earrings or pendant. 

I was pushing them around on my work bench, and then just for fun began to stack them. 

That was when I go the idea!

Wire wrap the stacks into segments and make a necklace out of them. 

I used 20 ga yellow brass wire for the links and 18 ga yellow brass wire to make the hook. 

I added an accent of vintage crystal to the hook. 

It can be worn, with hook in front or in back. 

Versatile little necklace!

The earrings I wire wrapped on 18 ga yellow brass with a hammered spiral on the bottom. 

The ear wires are of hammered 20 ga yellow brass. 

  

Howlite is used to relieve anxiety, tension and stress.

Maybe that is why it is dyed so many happy, bright colors!

Sodalite on Copper Wire Loop Earrings - Logic

18 ga copper wire formed into a loop and hammered for stability.

Wire wrapped with 24 ga copper wire to keep the shape.

Center drilled heishi cut sodalite beads wire wrapped to the bottom.

Surprisingly light and with a flirty fun swing. You know they are there, but they are not distracting. 

Sodalite is the stone of logic. It encourages rational thought, objectivity, truth and intuition, along with honest communication of feelings. Sodalite brings emotional balance and calms panic attacks. It enhances self-esteem, self-acceptance and self-trust.

Dyed Quartz Point with AB Finish Pendant

One of the most common crystals in the world, but that doesn't make it ordinary :)

I love quartz!!!

This quartz point has been dyed light blue, with an AB finish.  I did a quick hippie wrap of sterling silver on the top. I didn't want to take away from the stone with an ornate wrap. 

Quartz is an amplifier of energy. Because it is an amplifier of energy, it is also a master healer. 

Blue is the color of healing and happiness. 

What a great combination of color and crystal these are!!!

Orbicular Jasper Pendant

I got a mess of jasper beads given to me by a friend. In this bag, were drilled focal beads in all different shapes and sizes. They are all perfect sizes for pendants. I love this little orbicular jasper, also ocean jasper.

It was the perfect stone to wrap in copper, not only because of its color, but because of its properties. Copper is an energy conductor and helps to amplify your thoughts. It also boosts your self-esteem. When someone is feeling agitated, angry, or distraught, your calming energies will help them calm down as well.

Orbicular jasper is known to be a nurturing and protective stone, like all jaspers. It can help encourage patience, release emotional blockages and rid us of pent-up anger. It is a stone of joy and renewed enthusiasm for the cycles of life, especially when worn or placed over the Heart chakra.  Orbicular Jasper eases depression and encourages empathy towards others, while at the same time preventing rivalries. When placed over the Solar Plexus chakra, this Jasper will help to remove chronic stress.

Jasper and Tree Agate Set - Auction for the Crape Myrtle Festival

I was approached to do a piece for a silent auction to raise money for the Crape Myrtle Festival.

What is the Crape Myrtle Festival, I hear you say. Crape Myrtle Festival (CMF) originated in the summer of 1981 as a small backyard gathering in Wilmington, North Carolina. The party quickly grew in size and moved to Chapel Hill, focusing on the needs of the local gay and lesbian community. In response to the emerging AIDS health crisis, CMF soon began concentrating on raising funds for the HIV/AIDS service agencies located in the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill area.

The small party evolved into a yearly festival, increasing the donations given by individuals and corporations supporting its goal, and culminating in a Grand Gala celebrated in the last weekend of July. By the early 1990s, special events such as educational seminars, sports tournaments, and musical concerts preceded the Gala, resulting in a week of CMF activities.

In 1992 a group of dedicated individuals initiated the process of incorporating CMF as a recognized North Carolina non-profit organization. By law, these individuals became responsible for setting policies and drafting necessary documents. CMF received state recognition as an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in May 1993.

As the 1990s passed and the new millennium began, CMF continued to fine-tune its mission statement and broaden its focus to additional health needs found within the gay, lesbian, and transgender communities. For over two decades, it has heightened positive awareness and promoted fellowship in these communities located within the Triangle area. As we stay focused on our goals, CMF will continue to expand and identify new areas in which fundraising efforts make an impact on the community.

Now all that being said, what can I make that will reflect what the CMF does. Easy :) Jasper.

Jasper is the supreme nurturer, like CMF is so many ways, caring for and encouraging our communities, by raising awareness and helping to raise money for research for a cure for HIV/AIDS.  Now lets add in tree agate. Tree agate, is the stone of plenitude, don't think of it as money = plenitude, but how you have fullness and wholeness in your life when you are healthy. CMF's outreach is to heal, not only the bodies of those who are sick, but also to give a sense of pride to us as humans, that we can and should take on the responsibility of helping, caring, educating and uplifting our families, friends, and even more importantly, the strangers in our lives. Because, a stranger is just a friend we haven't met yet.
