I love lapis. 

Do I love it because blue is my favorite color, and lapis is that beautiful, bold, cobalty blue? Maybe the energy behind the color blue itself is what draws me.  Does Lapis share any of the energies with the color? Do I love lapis because of it's metaphysical properties?  

What is it!!??

I find this very interesting.....

Blue: the color of communication, peace, protection and clarity

Throat chakra: the color blue, for communication

Lapis: the stone of truth, deep communication, friendship and harmony

and I can go on and on and on.

How awesome is the correlation between the color, the chakra and the stone.

Copper Wire Wrapped Cuff with Dragon Blood Jasper

I stumbled on a new shop on Etsy,  JL Dreamworks with stones I have never heard of before. This is now one of my favorite places to shop for stone beads. 

Here I found dragon blood jasper (also called blood jasper).  It is a beautiful stone. If unakite and bloodstone had a baby, it would be dragon blood jasper. 

It has the green and red/brown spots like a blood stone, but the mottling of unakite if that makes sense. 

It is just dreamy to me!

A little about the stone: 

The dragon blood jasper is a powerful healing and protective stone. Healing in all aspects of your life, emotional, spiritual, mental and physical as well as keeping negativity from you.

I am not a 'charm' person when it comes to my style in making jewelry. Bead Clearance Depot changed all that for me!

These little earrings are made with faceted roundel labradorite beads, wire wrapped on copper and then accented with the antiqued copper charm. Super light and flirty, especially when the light hits the labradorite and you can see that flash!

Labradorite is the stone of change and transformation. Although we know deep in our hearts that change is the one thing we can count on, it still don't make it easy to have to deal with. Labradorite helps through those times of change and transformation. Making it easier to deal with and less stressful. Labradorite is also the stone of magic, and believing in yourself IS magic!!

Chrysocolla and Brass Coin Earrings - Jewelry with Meaning - Communication

I found a listing on Facebook, someone had several strands of gemstones they bought to make jewelry and decided they didn't want to do it anymore. 

I got some beautiful strands 

One of them was chrysocolla. 

At first I wasn't for sure what to do with them. Then one day digging thru my stash, and organizing I found these fun brass coins. 

It all fell into place after that!!

Tanzanite Pendant - Jewelry with Purpose - Transformation

At Bonnaroo every year, one of my favorite places to stop and shop is Twisted Bliss Designs. 

This year I got a fairy quartz (top) and a tanzanite! (bottom) 

I was so excited about this purchase. That tanzanite was the perfect shape to wrap for a pendant.

Chunky Amethyst and Dyed Quartz Points Necklace - Jewelry with Purpose - Amplified Peace

I made this one with great excitement when I found out the jewelry trends for 2019 were going to be big, chunky styles. 

Thats my favorite!

Big amethyst beads offset with dyed AB finish quartz points. A handmade wire wrapped sterling free form wire pendant is the focal. 

It's not a long piece, 19", so it sits just passed the collar bone. Right at the opening of a shirt, and becomes the star of the show. 

Amethyst is the stone of peace and calm, and quartz is an energy amplifier. 

Not a bad thing to have amped up!

I won't be offended if this necklace is out of trend now, because it is just my style, and I may have to start wearing it!!!

These big fat stone coins are perfect to lay flat around your wrist. This bracelet is def substantial.

I went to the Bead and Gem show at the fairgrounds in Raleigh. I love to go, not always to buy, there is just so much to see!

I found these silver tone tree of life pendants. I have the in copper tone, but have never seen silver. Fell in love. 

Now what to do with them?

Agate and sodalite are a great combination. 

Not only because of color, because orange and blue look awesome together, but also for properties.

Unakite and garnet can both be found and mined in North Carolina! I love this and being a rock hound, have done my fair share running up and down creek beds looking for fun stone, minerals, crystals and more.

Rose Quartz Wire Wrapped in Copper - Jewelry with Purpose - Love and Forgiveness

I got these rose quartz cabochons from KGNShop on Etsy. When they have a sale, someone hold my wallet, please!!

These are real beauties, and fun to wrap. I got them in ovals and tear drops and they are a big hit in my shop. 

The way they are cut, it leaves the natural form of the rose quartz on the top of the stone, and a matte finish on the back of the stone. 

Did you know that rose quartz is always translucent, but never transparent? It never forms in crystal faces or in crystals, that would make it pink quartz!

Chalcedony with Jasper Earrings - Jewelry with Meaning - Brotherhood

Chalcedony has many faces, just like all stones. When you have the beautiful solid color stone, that is set in earrings, ring or in your favorite pendant, that is what most of us think of when we think of chalcedony. 

But wait there is more!!

Chalcedony (I used to pronounce it Chal-si-doney) really is the mother of all stones. When you break down the stones family tree, These varieties include agate, carnelian, onyx, sardonyx, chrysoprase, jasper, bloodstone, chert, and flint. Which all come from quartz!!

These earrings are chalcedony with jasper, just not what is considered the best quality stone, because it is not a solid classic chalcedony color. 

The jewelry store quality doesn't take away from the stones properties. 

Chalcedony is a nurturing stone (just like jasper is nurturing and gentleness)  that promotes brotherhood and good will. It absorbs negative energy. It brings the mind, body, emotions and spirit into harmony. Chalcedony instills feelings of benevolence and generosity.

Ruby Wire Wrapped with Copper Pendant - Compassion

To me it is fun to see the variations of the 'quality' of stones. Most of us think of a faceted little stone set in earrings or ring when we think of a ruby. That is the jeweler quality of the stone, but where does the stone come from? 

While mining for stones, there will be a vein, or pocket where the stones are mined. As they are sifting thru the ruby deposit, some portions of the vein are developed differently, in that more transparent, deep color that we are used to. 

But what about the rest of the ruby? 

This pendant is a great example of what can be done with what is discarded from the mines.

Copper Wire Wrapped Serpentine Donut Pendant - Not Jade

A lot of times you will see serpentine sold as jade. But this isn't the case. Serpentine has a waxy feel to its finish, and is light weight. It also makes more of a thunk when tapped. Jade has a glassy smoother finish and is heavier than it looks. It also makes a 'tink' when tapped.
