Labradorite Stacks with Antiqued Copper Charm Earrings - Transformation - Jewelry with Meaning

I found the most awesome little shop on Etsy
Bead Clearance Depot has everything you need to make awesome beautiful jewely!

I am not a 'charm' person when it comes to my style in making jewelry. Bead Clearance Depot changed all that for me!

The selection is amazing, and the quality superior. I really look forward to ordering with this shop, because I can't wait to receive the product.

I have had so much fun making earrings and necklaces with the charms I have bought from them, and so have my customers! They sell so fast!

These little earrings are made with faceted roundel labradorite beads, wire wrapped on copper and then accented with the antiqued copper charm. Super light and flirty, especially when the light hits the labradorite and you can see that flash!

Labradorite is the stone of change and transformation. Although we know deep in our hearts that change is the one thing we can count on, it still don't make it easy to have to deal with. Labradorite helps through those times of change and transformation. Making it easier to deal with and less stressful. Labradorite is also the stone of magic, and believing in yourself IS magic!!

All of my jewelry creations are based on the metaphysical properties of the stones or the colors that are incorporated. Jewelry should be a window to our soul, a protector of our emotions and a companion to our spirit. All of my other creations come directly from my heart in hopes they touch yours as well. Celebrate yourself with healing jewelry, and other gift ideas made with love!

Labradorite Wrapped in Sterling Wire Pendant - Jewelry with Meaning - Stone of Magic and Transformation

A picture doesn't do this little pendant justice. You have to see the fire in this stone from all angles.

Just beautiful!!!

Labradorite brings your magic to the surface, opening up intuition, communication with spirits and more. It brings strength during times of change or conflict. It is a congenial stone, encouraging courtesy. Reduces depression and negativity. It brings hope to the hopeless. It is a strong protection.

Called the temple of stars - it is a connection to energy from other worlds.

It is a great creative stone and helps with writers block.

If you like what you see, this bracelet and more of my jewelry creations are listed in my Etsy store! Stop by and save your favorites today!

I Love Labradorite. The Stone of Magic and Transformation

My love affair with labradorite is recent, 10 years or so. I love labradorite, who am I kidding I love them all, equally, with a few favorites :)

I have always had a collection of stones, it started with picking up rocks as a kid. I had a huge Readers Digest World Atlas and in the back was a chart of minerals from around the world. I would pull rocks from my pocket and compare them to the pictures on the chart and wonder which mineral I had.  That book has long since fallen apart, but I still have those 2 pages :)

When I found out that I could actually buy those minerals/stones/crystals and not have to travel to Brazil or Madagascar, my collection began. These stones spoke to me, drew me in. There would be days when I would have to have a particular one in my pocket, and I didn't know why.  Then I found out that the stones have properties, meanings and it all became so clear to me why I was so drawn to stones.

When I started making jewelry, my intent was to use crystals and stone and work with the metaphysical properties of the stones. I didn't just want fashion, I wanted soul support.

My friend Mushi was obsessed with labradorite like I was moonstone. I would be buying moonstone beads, and she was buying labradorite beads. The flash, that fire that came from the stone when the light hit it was amazing. Even the low quality labs had a fire that the moonstone didn't. I do love the fire of a feldspar!

Now that you have my backstory, let's talk about labradorite - the magic stone.

To me, this is one of those must have stones for any collection. I never go anywhere without one!

Thanks for stopping by, be blessed and always remember, be peaceful, be kind and find time to create!

Wednesday Challenge

When Jo was home, she had too much fun pawing thru my supplies and helping me organize my work space.

One of her favorite games is to grab a random grouping of beads and challenge me to make something with it.

For this Jo challenge she chose these beads.

Natural sapphire, matte finish dyed agate, labradorite and fresh water pearl.

Time to put my thinking cap on :)

The Mail Brings Fun Things!

I was so excited when I got home last nite. Not only did my order come in, but I also received a package from Copper Diem's Giveaway!!!! Look what I won!!!

I am sooo excited. I can't wait to get started on this!

I also received a stone order - wow!!! Look at the fire in the labradorite!

This malachite looks like a different world.

Now I am off to play with all of my new things!!!!!
Have a great weekend!

More in the Jo Jo Collection

My daughter has sent me several images of the jewelry she likes and always asks - "Can you make this?" What I have noticed is the use of ribbon in so many pieces. I didn't have ribbon, but I have a ton of fabric.

I cut a thin piece of fabric and 'distressed' it to use it for the accent of this piece. I had some earrings I was going to re purpose - they were a perfect match!

It is fun and trendy and youthful. I don't intend to grow up, so I may wear it too!

Sometimes while I am making a new piece, it will remind me of a person. This reminded me of my daughter. She loves a non traditional piece that will go with everything, or even more fun, clash with EVERYTHING! She loves her accessories to make a statement.

I had that pendant for ever and finally got around to working it into a piece. It is daring with the asymmetrical design and the mixing of copper and sterling.

This one is a lot of fun

Trying to keep it together

I have been up since 3:30 pacing with Newd. He has been restless all nite and has a more pronounced limp than usual. I did take him on his first walk yesterday and he may just be sore. He has been kenneled for nearly two weeks now and I am starting to add more exercise back into his routine.

I microwaved towels and made him a heating pad and he settled in for a while.

Now I am pacing. I have an interview in a few hours for the Associate Producer position. A great move up into the company from where I am, and good solid career move. I am nervous. I am always at a loss for words, have a tendency to make jokes and act a clown when I am nervous, and I can't do that today. I have to be on target and give them what they are looking for.

*think* *think*

I need to channel this energy into something, something positive.

*snap*

I am going to give you an inside look at my creative process. How my pieces go together and how my thought processes work when designing a piece.

I grab my books and begin to do some looking - I have it! I am making a new necklace to wear to the interview. I necklace charged with positive energy, creativity, organization, and communication. Just what I need to get me thru the day. I chose moonstone, labradorite, quartz, blue lace agate, jasper, rutilated quartz, and carnelian for my base stones. The bulk of the design in seed beads, crystals, some chain and a few buttons for focals.

I chose -
moonstone, blue lace agate, labradorite and quartz for communication.
jasper for organization.
rutilated quartz and carnelian for creativity.
The buttons are a representation of me.
The chain is to show how each link is needed for the fluidity of the movement. Just like a team has to depend on each other for the outcome.

I was going to document the process but I chose to go with my 'tantrum' style necklace, and it is difficult to do. I chose the tantrum because order has to come from chaos in the position I am applying for. What I can show you is one of the draw backs to making this style of necklace and how you can fix it with no one the wiser.

During the beading of the 'tantrum' you weave the tail of the beading wire in and out of beads randomly. You have to keep the beading wire taunt during the process or you will have gaps in your beads after you anchor it like this -

What do you do? it is a pain to take the crimps off , pull in the slack, and set a new crimp - most times, I end up snipping the cover of the beading wire and have a fray. Not good.

So for a random tantrum style necklace like this, all you can do is go with it. You can create a coil. For this necklace I created a coil in copper, bout the same size as the 'slack'

Once the coil is made - 'screw' it onto the beading wire

Close up of the coil

And the finished product -
