I love lapis. 

Do I love it because blue is my favorite color, and lapis is that beautiful, bold, cobalty blue? Maybe the energy behind the color blue itself is what draws me.  Does Lapis share any of the energies with the color? Do I love lapis because of it's metaphysical properties?  

What is it!!??

I find this very interesting.....

Blue: the color of communication, peace, protection and clarity

Throat chakra: the color blue, for communication

Lapis: the stone of truth, deep communication, friendship and harmony

and I can go on and on and on.

How awesome is the correlation between the color, the chakra and the stone.

Copper Wire Wrapped Cuff with Dragon Blood Jasper

I stumbled on a new shop on Etsy,  JL Dreamworks with stones I have never heard of before. This is now one of my favorite places to shop for stone beads. 

Here I found dragon blood jasper (also called blood jasper).  It is a beautiful stone. If unakite and bloodstone had a baby, it would be dragon blood jasper. 

It has the green and red/brown spots like a blood stone, but the mottling of unakite if that makes sense. 

It is just dreamy to me!

A little about the stone: 

The dragon blood jasper is a powerful healing and protective stone. Healing in all aspects of your life, emotional, spiritual, mental and physical as well as keeping negativity from you. 

It is a green stone, which connects it to the  heart chakra.  This helps to keep depression and loneliness at bay, and helps to keep your moods high.

Chrysocolla and Brass Coin Earrings - Jewelry with Meaning - Communication

I found a listing on Facebook, someone had several strands of gemstones they bought to make jewelry and decided they didn't want to do it anymore. 

I got some beautiful strands 

One of them was chrysocolla. 

At first I wasn't for sure what to do with them. Then one day digging thru my stash, and organizing I found these fun brass coins. 

It all fell into place after that!!

Tanzanite Pendant - Jewelry with Purpose - Transformation

At Bonnaroo every year, one of my favorite places to stop and shop is Twisted Bliss Designs. 

This year I got a fairy quartz (top) and a tanzanite! (bottom) 

I was so excited about this purchase. That tanzanite was the perfect shape to wrap for a pendant. 

Tanzanite is a stone of transformation, dissolves old patterns of karma, which allows you to move on and get off that karma wheel!

Chunky Amethyst and Dyed Quartz Points Necklace - Jewelry with Purpose - Amplified Peace

I made this one with great excitement when I found out the jewelry trends for 2019 were going to be big, chunky styles. 

Thats my favorite!

Big amethyst beads offset with dyed AB finish quartz points. A handmade wire wrapped sterling free form wire pendant is the focal. 

It's not a long piece, 19", so it sits just passed the collar bone. Right at the opening of a shirt, and becomes the star of the show. 

Amethyst is the stone of peace and calm, and quartz is an energy amplifier. 

Not a bad thing to have amped up!

I won't be offended if this necklace is out of trend now, because it is just my style, and I may have to start wearing it!!!

Bronzite, Agate and Garnet Copper Bracelet - Jewelry with Meaning - Courtesy, Harmony and Love

These big fat stone coins are perfect to lay flat around your wrist. This bracelet is def substantial. 

Bronzite is the stone of courtesy, especially helpful for people who work with the public. Maybe I should mail some to the local DMV.....

Brecciated Jasper Donut Pendant Wire Wrapped in Sterling Silver - Jewelry with Meaning - Vitality and Strength

I do think there is a great diversity to wire wrapping these little donuts.

Looking at this one, I almost see two eyes where the swirls are, and the middle hole is its mouth and it is singing loudly!

Agate and Sodalite Necklace with Tree of Life Pendant - Jewelry with Meaning - Harmony in Thought

I went to the Bead and Gem show at the fairgrounds in Raleigh. I love to go, not always to buy, there is just so much to see!

I found these silver tone tree of life pendants. I have the in copper tone, but have never seen silver. Fell in love. 

Now what to do with them?

Agate and sodalite are a great combination. 

Not only because of color, because orange and blue look awesome together, but also for properties.

Unakite and garnet can both be found and mined in North Carolina! I love this and being a rock hound, have done my fair share running up and down creek beds looking for fun stone, minerals, crystals and more.

Chalcedony has many faces, just like all stones. When you have the beautiful solid color stone, that is set in earrings, ring or in your favorite pendant, that is what most of us think of when we think of chalcedony. 

But wait there is more!!

Chalcedony (I used to pronounce it Chal-si-doney) really is the mother of all stones. When you break down the stones family tree, These varieties include agate, carnelian, onyx, sardonyx, chrysoprase, jasper, bloodstone, chert, and flint. Which all come from quartz!!

These earrings are chalcedony with jasper, just not what is considered the best quality stone, because it is not a solid classic chalcedony color. 

The jewelry store quality doesn't take away from the stones properties. 

Chalcedony is a nurturing stone (just like jasper is nurturing and gentleness)  that promotes brotherhood and good will. It absorbs negative energy. It brings the mind, body, emotions and spirit into harmony. Chalcedony instills feelings of benevolence and generosity.

Ruby Wire Wrapped with Copper Pendant - Compassion

To me it is fun to see the variations of the 'quality' of stones. Most of us think of a faceted little stone set in earrings or ring when we think of a ruby. That is the jeweler quality of the stone, but where does the stone come from? 

While mining for stones, there will be a vein, or pocket where the stones are mined. As they are sifting thru the ruby deposit, some portions of the vein are developed differently, in that more transparent, deep color that we are used to. 

But what about the rest of the ruby? 

This pendant is a great example of what can be done with what is discarded from the mines. 

A chunk of ruby, smoothed and formed into a cabochon with inclusions of what else may have been forming in the vein with it. 

BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Ruby has been associated with energy and concentration, creativity, loyalty, honor and compassion. Ruby is also a stone of protection.  Big protection. Used to protect, family, home and possessions. It also brings spiritual wisdom.

Wire Wrapped Copper Cuff with Amethyst and Fluorite Chips - Jewelry with Meaning - Peacefully Brings Order to Chaos

These bracelets are fun and easy to make.

Use a heavy copper ga. like a 14 ga. If you have a bracelet mandrel, form the wire around the mandrel at the size you want, leaving extra length on the end to coil. If you don't have a mandrel, free form the wire into a cuff form, leaving extra length on the ends to coil.

Coil the ends, using a round nose pliers. Hammer the form on an anvil to give it tinsel strength. Now you have a vague cuff shape to work with.

Using 24 ga copper wire, begin at the base of the coiled end, and wrap the 24 ga wire around the cuff form, spiraling up the form as you go. Keep the wraps tight!

When you are about 1/3 of the way up, start adding your stone chips to the wire, and wrap 3 times in between each stone. Do this across the top of the bracelet about a 1/3 of the way. Now stop adding the stones, and wire wrap the cuff form, down to the base of the opposite coil, so that the whole cuff, excluding the coils has been wrapped in copper.

Now you can free form and shape the cuff to the size you are wanting, or to your wrist!!!

Choose any type of stone chip, swarovski crystal or mix and match!!

Sodalite Wrapped in Sterling Earrings - Jewelry with Meaning - Communication

I found a great sale at Firemountain Gems and picked up an assortment of large hole gemstone 8mm beads. 

These sodalite beads are big enough to showcase as a single dangle from an ear wire. The beads are wrapped with 20 ga sterling silver several times around the bead, and also to build around the bottom of the wire wrapped loop of the bale. Kinda like a one sided herring bone wrap. 

Straight up adorbs!!!

Sodalite is an awesome stone!! Communication, logic. Removes emotions out of situations for rational outcomes.

Copper Wire Wrapped Serpentine Donut Pendant - Not Jade

A lot of times you will see serpentine sold as jade. But this isn't the case. Serpentine has a waxy feel to its finish, and is light weight. It also makes more of a thunk when tapped. Jade has a glassy smoother finish and is heavier than it looks. It also makes a 'tink' when tapped. 

If you have bought this stone before, meaning serpentine, but you were told it was jade, never fear. Serpentine is a beautiful little stone with amazing properties!

Elephant Skin Jasper (Calligraphy Stone) Pendant

I fell over backwards when I saw this elephant skin jasper cabochon. I ordered a cabochon lot on  Etsy from KGNShop

This big elephant skin jasper was in it!!

The pattern in the stone is mesmerizing. I could look at it all day. The pattern is made from fossilized shells. 

I wrapped it in sterling silver wire, and added an imperial jasper accent. 

Elephant skin jasper or calligraphy stone is a stone that brings happiness. It removes negative thoughts and brings in positive thoughts. It is a great stone to have if you are working through difficult situations in your life.
