All of my jewelry creations are based on the metaphysical properties of the stones or the colors that are incorporated. Jewelry should be a window to our soul, a protector of our emotions and a companion to our spirit. All of my other creations come directly from my heart in hopes they touch yours as well. Celebrate yourself with healing jewelry, and other gift ideas made with love!

Can't Get Enough Tie Dye!

I can't get enough of tie dying! I have to dye everything. Doesn't matter what I look at, fabric wise - I wonder what it would look like if it was crinkled up or  rubber banded and loaded with color.

I recently went to visit my brother in Oklahoma City. What a blast! He is an artist, WONDERFUL artist, and shows his work at The Purple Loft Gallery.

Last year, I went out to The Paseo Art District and did a show of my jewelry, this year, I took tie dyed scarves.

I made scarves from cotton flannel, and cotton muslin for a lighter weight scarf. They were a hit!

I love each design, and the way that I do it, I don't duplicate the design, staying true to my one of a kind philosophy.
I will be selling my scarves locally at The Green Monkey in downtown Raleigh, at Raleigh Brewing on 12/9/17, at Lasting Impressions Art Show in Fuquay-Varina over Thanksgiving, and will be at New E nuff in Bethany OK!! I am so excited at the doors this tie dye adventure has opened!

We all need more color!

Pancakes and Booze in Raleigh - Tonight!!!!

I am so excited to be a vendor at Pancakes and Booze in Raleigh at the Lincoln Theater tonight!!!

There will be lots of artist there, lots of local vendors there, live music and pancakes and booze!!

Here is a blurb from their site
"As you may have guessed, we are an art show, but we are not your typical art gallery. Since 2009 we've been filling the best venues in over 30 cities around the world with your favorite local artists, photographers, bands, and DJ's. We focus on keeping the work on display local and original to help artists of all types sell their work while they're still alive (why does it take dying to gain recognition?). Each show usually features between 50-150 local artisans, a unique lineup of live musicians and/or DJs, live painting, body painting, along with other forms of entertainment. Oh, and of course PANCAKES!
We seek to bring the art community and those outside the community together by creating an upbeat art show that appeals to the masses. Through the shows we create an environment where artists, potential buyers, and pancake fanatics alike can make connections with several different types of people within their own communities."

I am debuting my new fabric wrapped bracelets tonight!
Come on out and see what is happening at Pancakes and Booze! It will be fun!!!

And as always, Be peaceful, Be kind.
Remember to explore, create, dream, imagine and discover!

"Transcend" Newest Jewelry Line

Transcend (Thanks Stacey!) is what I call my new line of earrings made exclusively for The Green Monkey in Raleigh.

These are wire wrapped designs of sterling and copper, with a single healing stone as a focal.  Each pair comes with a tiny card to remind you of the healing properties of the stone you chose for your earrings. Stones like amethyst for peace, citrine for success, and many more. I will even have a limited supply of stones where I may be able to make you the pair you want on the spot! Now that is service!

I will be unveiling these on Feb 3, 2017 for First Friday.

The Green Monkey is the coolest store on Hillsborough St, offering art from local artist, craft beer by the bottle, or on draft!!! Come out and spend some time with us, and get acquainted with your back yard and the local stores that live in it!!!!

And as always, Be peaceful, Be kind.
Remember to explore, create, dream, imagine and discover!

First Friday in Raleigh

I am really excited to be showing tomorrow night in Raleigh for First Friday!!

This is absolutely the tightest pack I have ever done for a show!!!

I am showing at a little local bar called Drink Drank Drunk. The cutest place! So quaint, and cozy. Lots of room on the patio to visit and enjoy they weather, scenery and dogs!!!!

It is the perfect combination for a fun night of celebrating local business and friends.

I am concentrating on earrings and pendants due to the amount of space I have, but that doesn't mean I am limiting myself!! I have found some fun ways to display jewelry, and can't wait to show a pictures of the final presentation.

I have some fun new jewelry to show you, I hope you can come out and visit!!!!

Flood the Streets with ART II!!!!!!!

While browsing Facebook, I found a really great movement that is happening. Flood the Streets with Art.
Brain child of Scott Wong, that artists everywhere are helping to nurturer into a living, loving beautiful entity. It is a peaceful, giving movement to promote artists everywhere.

How do you do it? Make your art, tag your art as free, leave your art for someone to find it.

To quote Scott Wong - "Here in the United States of America, we celebrate Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 27th. We spend the day with family, friends and loved ones giving thanks for everything in our life we have to be thankful for.

On the following day a.k.a. BLACK FRIDAY (the day after we've given thanks for everything we have in life), we rush out in an uncivilized manner trampling complete strangers to death so we can buy a DVD player for five bucks. This is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but you get the gist of it."

I am not saying to stop shopping at the local chains near you, people who work their need their jobs to support their family. Just be choosy in your gift purchases. Make them count. Buy locally to support your local businesses, to support the arts in your community, to give a gift that is unique and represents the recipient, instead of giving that gift out of obligation.

 Artisan of the Week

We are very happy to introduce you to our
'Artisan of the Week' Just A Tish.
Tish McDermott, owner, sells her unique items online

We have been very honored to have her participation
in all of our 'Let's Shop Local' events, and will welcome her again to our event this May!

Where did you get the inspiration for your business name?

Just A Tish was all my daughters fault.
When I first started making jewelry, she was
and still is my biggest fan. She would wear my
designs every day to work or school. When someone asked her what
was she wearing, or where did she get it, she would answer, This?
This is just a Tish Design :)

 What do you create/make?

I make jewelry, one of a kinds. I don't like to duplicate.
I want each piece to be it's only little piece of art, that you can wear.
I make jewelry using the metaphysical properties of the stones,
to convey a healing and peace to the buyer/wearer of the piece.
A little bit of love goes into each creation.

What is your favorite item to make?
Bracelets, the wire wrapped bangle bracelets. They are so tactile, intricate and colorful

Why is buying local important to you?
The internet, allows local to become global,
which is mind blowing. Local on a global scale, is different than say,
a franchise, which is still a local business,
but it has lost it's hands on, personal touch.
So, I think what local does is give a sense of pride and
community, and a bit of elitism. When someone asks me where I bought something
I have or i am wearing, it feels so good to tell them it is local,
like I am in on the best kept secret of what all the cool kids are doing.

What are your business goals for 2014?
I am working this year for more exposure and with Let's Shop Local, I have done it :).
I have taken a few years off due to work load, and this year,
I am making time for me and for my craft. There is a whole world out there that
needs to see my creations and I am going to show it to them :)

Let's Shop Local Event, Raleigh, NC - March 23, 2014

Let's Shop Local is having there second shopping event 3/23/14 at the Raleigh, NC Fairgrounds in the Holshouser Building, and I am excited to be there!

I will be setting up with over 30 more locals artist, all there to have fun, and show off our most recent creations. But it isn't just a shopping event, no, it is way more!

Let's Shop Local, is more than just a shopping event, it is an awareness event. One of the great things about the event is showcasing local artists, giving you a chance to meet the artist, and browse their work, and get the story behind the creation, giving it more meaning and more value to you as a consumer. You can't find that in a mall. Several of the artist only offer one of a kind items, meaning, when you purchase it, it is yours and yours alone. You will not run into anyone wearing that same piece, it is your own personal work of art :)

Awesome right?!

How else is Let's Shop Local events better than any other? They offer you live entertainment!!

Raleigh Little Theater will be there and performing as well! This is the schedule.

  12:30 - 1:00 : Raleigh Little Theatre, Songs
  2:00 - 5:00 : Kristi Dixon, Guitar & Songs

I have really been gearing up and making new pieces and re working my booth for the show.I haven't done any shows for a while, and am really looking forward to getting back into it. So many new pieces, and a few old ones too will be at the show with me.

Over 50 vendors will be at this show, so much to look at. I am hoping a few will want to barter :)
