Sugilite Pendant - Dendritic Pendant

I finally got around to wrapping that dendritic agate that I talked about in my last blog post!!
I am happy to say, it is in the mail to its new home.

Congratz little pendent!!

This little pendant is made from sugilite. (SOO-gee-lite) Most people associate sugilite with purple, but in lower quality stone (quality meaning gem quality) it ranges in color from purple to black. I have a little box of tumbled odds and ends, some big enough for a pendant, and most will be wrapped into earrings.

This little one is now at it's home, bringing support and encouragement to it's new partner :)

Sugilite is a love stone and spiritual growth. It shows you how to live authentically, appreciate everything about your life, and who you really are. This is a great stone to keep with you on your journey to live your truths, follow your passions, and be bold and courageous!!

It will inspire you to discover your purpose in this world and make you appreciate everything about your life. Is the glass have empty? Need to change your perception and find more positivity in your world? This is the little stone to help with that.

I am just now learning about the properties of this stone, and I am loving everything I am finding out.  I think I am gonna have to make myself a pair of earrings :)

Until then, thanks for stopping by and remember:

Be peaceful, be kind, it's important!

Art Abandonment and Bonnaroo

Two things I look forward to every year

and

These two things make me giddy with excitement! I love making art and abandoning it all over the Raleigh area on Black Friday, and I absolutely LIVE for going to Bonnaroo.

The last few years at Bonnaroo, I have combined my two loves, and I abandon art around the festival.

Each year Bonnaroo changes it colors, and I create pendants that are made of the same colors and drop them around for people to find.

These pendants were from 2016

Last year, 2017 I did pendants, and crocheted bracelets.

This year, 2018,  hot pink and lime green, being dominant colors, I found these fun little skull beads at Michaels, and the fun began!

Bonnaroo is getting so close and I can't stand it! I may even drop some tie dyed shirts this year too!!!

Thanks for stopping by, be blessed, and always find time to create!

Maybe I will see you on the farm!

September is the month to celebrate sapphires. Did you know sapphire is a stone of creative expression? Sapphires come in all colors, and if you have a red sapphire, it is a ruby :) What I love about sapphires is they are the stone of hope - they bring hope where there is hopelessness. On Facebook there is a great group I have joined - This and That Destash.

It is a group of hording crafters just like myself (and you - you know who you are), who are trying to do just that - de stash some of their items.

In the group you will find pictures of items people are trying to sell, or trade for other items, along with posts for people who may be needing items that you may just have!

Do you know Kyanite?

This is one of my all time favorites. Maybe it is the blue, maybe it is the properties, maybe it is the texture in the stone, maybe it is all of the above, but I can say, kyanite makes my heart happy.

The name kyanite comes from the Greek word kuanos sometimes referred to as "kyanos", meaning deep blue.

I this from a rockhounds blog -
Outside of Philadelphia, behind a baseball field in an old early suburban areas, Kyanite of a very decent quality can be obtained. But don’t forget to bring your rubber gloves! ...Read More

How fun would it be to do this!!!!

Kyanite is a gemstone that does not accumulate negative energies, so it never needs to be cleansed. It is also known to bring tranquility and calm. Along with this, it is said to promote the ability to speak more easily and express oneself more clearly, and will even assist in learning a new language.

If you are in a position where you are required to speak, i.e. lecture, present, etc. you would benefit from kyanite!

I combined the kyanite with citrine for a double dose of blocking negativity - how can you go wrong :)

21-340-32-032 - Donut, Gemstone, Square, 40mm (Snowflake Obsidian) *
21-340-29-011 - Donut, Gemstone, Square, 50mm (Green Aventurine) *

I am a pendant fah-reek!! I love them. These are exceptional. The size and shapes are so fun. They are going to work great into any design.

Ok, and picture jasper - PICTURE JASPER!! How did you know it was one of my favorites? Did you know picture jasper helps create harmony, proportion, creative visualization, positive things in business pursuits. It brings and shows hidden messages from the past as well as hidden thoughts, fears, and hopes. These qualities make it useful as an emotional/psychological healing stone.

Do you see the silver mist jasper? I have been eyeballing it for sometime on Rings & Things site. I know I go on and on about different stones and that one is my favorite - I do love them all - but jasper has a special place in my heart.

Look at that Dumortierite! Dumortierite is used in the manufacture of high grade porcelain. It is sometimes mistaken for sodalite and has been used as imitation lapis lazuli. I can see where it would get confusing! Dumortierite enhances organizational abilities, self-discipline and orderliness. This enhancement is believed to be due to the effect it can have of balancing the throat chakra and enhancing communication between lower chakras/physical energy and the higher chakras/mental/spiritual energy. It highly reduces difficulties of scattered mind and disorganization. It has been used to help recovery from addiction and alcoholism. In addition, it encourages one to see and accept reality, and react to it in an intelligent manner in one's own behalf.

Snowflake obsidian, it absolutely stunning. The 'snowflakes' on this pendant are perfect, and so many! Snowflake obsidian has the property of bringing things to the surface. The things brought to the surface could be positive or negative, love, anger, secrets; but with snowflake obsidian, these things are brought to the surface more gently that they might be otherwise. Snowflake obsidian can provide balance during times of change. It aids in seeing patterns in life and recreating them in a more beneficial way. It is a stone of serenity and purity, and can shield against negativity.

And not to be over looked but that HUGE color enhanced aventurine. It is a monster!!! Aventurine is said to benefit one in all areas of creativity, and imagination, as well as intellect and mental clarity. Lore says that it enhances prosperity and brings career success. It is a gentle stone energetically that gives a sense of calm and balance and enhances happiness. It also helps one to see alternatives and potentials in all situations, giving a positive outlook, courage and inner strength. It is also said to bring luck, especially in games of chance. Green aventurine is also a mystical stone of prosperity. Aventurine bring friendship to one's life. It is also a stone of protection energies.

If you don't have an idea of how big 50mm is ......

Perfect ending to a not so perfect day!!

New pendants

I am a huge fan of Caremore's store over on Etsy. I love her vision and creativity in her wire wrapping. Every piece makes me gasp and oooooohhhhh.

I eyeballed a few of her pieces and tried to apply her technique to a few stones of mine.

This is the outcome.

My first attempt. This is a top drilled feldspar bead, bout the size of a quarter. Feldspar helps us to find unconventional and exciting ways to reach our goals. With that in mind, I added a little purple star, to always remind me to reach for the stars when I set goals for myself.

Try 2.

Here I stacked 2 magnesite disks and wrapped them with copper. I think it looks like an Easter bonnet - my daughter thinks it looks like a boob.................

Try 3.

I love this low quality moss quartz bead. There is so much texture to it, it feels great in your hand. I added more copper swirls and added lepidolite and a faceted quartz bead. I love the qualites of lepidolite it is a stone of calm, trust, and acceptance. Quartz is an amplifier, so how awesome is this combination!

Stop on by Caremore's store and get wow'd by her work - I promise you won't be disappointed!

If you dont' see me for a while - I have a new toy -and it is occupying all my time :)

More Art Beads Summertime Fun!!!!

I received an email from Duchess at ArtBeads.com saying for the next couple months ArtBeads would like to "focus on summer themes, whether it’s fun outdoor activities, summer vacations, nature scenes or just the lovely season itself."

So for this months blogger challenge I have chosen items from their Charms, Pendants, and Glass Beads categories for my summertime fun!

Look at this haul!!!

Clockwise starting with the amethyst glass -
FP-AMYLT6 - Czech Fire Polished Bead - Light Amethyst - 6mm * $2.56/50 pk
CR-OV018 - 11x9mm Orange w/ Picasso Oval * .34/each
CR-SP064 - Czech Glass Yellow Tiger's Eye Large Spade * .84/each
CR-FL197 - Czech Glass Lily Flower White Luster * .40/each

LMP-0168 - Purple, White and Orange Flowers with Purple Center Mix Bicone Beads (5 Pcs) * $23.47 (these are now out of stock, they are VERY popular!)

Lets get a closeup on these, shall we!

Look at the detail on those lamp work beads. They are beautiful. When I pulled them out of the package, I will admit, I slobbered on myself a bit. I LOVE them! The amethyst glass is amazing also. They have some heft to them, like crystal. Ya know how crystals have some weight to them, but glass and be very light? Mebbe it is the quality of the glass as well. These are lovely!

ArtBeads will be posting their blog partners designs on their “Summertime” Facebook Gallery post starting June 21st. Stop by their Facebook page to see them all!!

More pendants

I took supplies to work yesterday to beat the boredom. It is one of those boredom's that I don't want to do anything. I can't read a book, I don't want to look at the internet anymore, have no desire to play any games, just staring into space.

I am going to be creative damnit if it is the last thing I do!!!!

I took my bowl of bead soup, 4 gauges of wire, (bought 4 spools from Rings & Things, best purchase to date!) a few crystals and my tools. Now wouldn't ya know - I was busy yesterday!!!! Towards the last of my shift things started to slow down, so I put on my headphones and some good music and set out to create.

Remember those crystals I got on vacation? I wrapped one in copper and added amazonite, agate, aventurine and crystals for this success and luck pendant.

Then I used some red brass to frame a green garnet and wrapped it with copper wire and garnets with a fire polished red Czech crystal - Garnets are all about love

Time flew and my work day was over by the time I finished the garnet pendant. Now I have a three day weekend, with beautiful weather! Have a great weekend ya'all!

It's like christmas! Great things in my mail box!

Like a double whammy, but in a good way - I go to my mailbox and there I have not only my selections for the Sept. Rings & Things blogger challenge, but I have the necklace that I ordered from Dawno.

I squealed and danced in the street in front of my mailbox when I saw this wonderful double bounty.

Here is what came from Rings & Things -

4- Sterling silver rope design "S" clasps.
1 - Strand of 10 x 10 faceted fan beads - multistone.
1 - Sterling silver leaf face charm
1 - Sterling silver key charm
1 - 100 ct. India dancing bells
1 - Ocean jasper T-Drop pendant
1 - Moss agate T-Drop pendant

I grossly misjudged the size of the pendants, but I am not disappointed at all - They are Beautiful!! I can't wait to work with them. The faceted fans are brilliant. The bells made my heart happy - so many uses for this little gems. I had the design in my head when I ordered the pieces. Now all I have to do is sit down and build them. I will get started tonite.

Dawno had blogged about a necklace she made a month or so back. I fell in love with the hand made pendant and the necklace design. I began to pester her, asking when will I be seeing it on her ArtFire store so I can buy it. Come to find out - she had made it, and intended to keep it for herslelf. :( Dawno was so gracious as to order a focal pendant and create another one for me!

I love this necklace. It is fun and bright, and honestly will go with anything. I dont' want to limit it to just spring and summer wear. It is so lovely and the beautiful spring flowers are sure to lighten any winter duldrum!

Dawno was kind enuff to share with me where she got all the componets to make the necklace so I can share them with you.

The pendant is a beautiful. It is a Patti Stoll creation.

The blue beads are vintage Lucite - Sapphire moonglow rice ovals 9x15mm, from The Beadin' Path and the opaque yellow glass are 6mm Czech Druk beads from Fire Mountain Gems.

Now look at this craftsmanship - brilliant, sturdy, and beautiful! What a combination.

The scrimps are from Rings & Things. They cost a bit more, but are worth the investment. They add a polished touch to the design, very professional. The benefit to the scrimp is if the design needs to be re worked, you do not damage the beading wire by removing them. Just a turn of a little screw and you can do what you need to re work or even repair the piece. Not like crimp tubes, which require being cut off just so, as to not ruin the coating on the beading wire and cause fraying.

Now look at the Wire Guardians - cable thimbles. This keeps the beading wire safe from fray and crimping by threading the wire thru the 'stay' and then around the jump ring or the connector ring to the clasp. It prevents the wire from mashing or the protective coating from being damaged and causing the wire to fray. That can be uncomfortable and prickly!

And of course I am wearing it :)

September birthstone - Sapphire and alternates.

Traditionally sapphire is the September birthstone but did you know jasper and moonstone are alternate birthstones for this month?

With this selection there is sure to be a style or design to please even the pickiest of persons. I did a wander around a few sites and found not so traditional settings for sapphire. Beautiful and unique, just like the person who deserves to wear it. Why buy a mass produced setting, that looks just like everyone else, when you can buy a hand crafted original work of art? Don't forget jasper and moonstone. They are just as beautiful and should not be discounted because the are not in precious category.

When I saw jasper was in the list I did a little squeal. I love jasper. I love the variety jasper has. This stone runs the gambit of all colors. From your classic red jasper to the beautiful warm multi-colors of mookite, and into the mottled greens and browns of ocean jasper. How you can pick one variety of jasper as a favorite, is beyond me. I love them all!

I have included a smattering of great designs, including a couple of my own, being that jasper was on the list. I hope you enjoy them, and that this is an introduction to a new artist you will decide to follow to find out what else they are doing.

Happy birthday September babies!
