Peridot and Pearl - Breaking Old Habits

I think peridot is such an underrated stone. Bound to August babies as their birthstone, mined all over the world, found in meteorites and part of the Olivine family, but because of it natural weathered state, rarely considered gem quality.  All of this aside, peridot at its core holds great and gentle magic. Magic of dissipating negative patterns and old vibrations that play over and over, keeping one from realizing they are deserving of success.

I think of it as a guardian angel when worn, gently reminding me to move forward, and I am worth it.

Hope and Harmony Bracelet - Bid for Charity!

I made this piece to represent hope and harmony, after reading about Ark R.A.I.N. Wildlife Sanctuary.  I heard about them by a cross post from my cousin. They were doing a call for auction items to help their cause. As I read about what they did, I knew what I needed to do.

This piece came easy, there was no denying the combination. Hope, harmony, self love and more

Beautiful jewelry with a message of hope - does it get much better?

I'm on Fire - Necklace

Remember these kickin' polymer clay pendants I got from my friend Davinia of Back Pocket Designs?

I got some inspiration from the heat we have been having lately to work up this design.

It has been so hot lately and the stamping on the focal looks like fire. Paired it up with the faceted red glass, and this baby sizzles!!!

Blue dyed matte finish agate beads for the cool cool pool that my friends invite me to use, the tiny swarovski crystals for the drops of dew in the morning, the green stone wear bead for the grass that is still growing despite the heat and the lack of rain, and the white stone ware bead for my legs - that never see the sun and are clear :)

What inspires you?

What's in the post? I have cool friends!

Came home Monday nite to a package in the post -

My friend Jenny from Sweden sent me a surprise! Tea called "Mums Bum" in reply to a blog post a bout my about my butt falling :) and some chocolate wafers!!!! The poor wafers couldn't handle the heat and had melted. They are in the freezer at the moment waiting for my tummy!
She included one of her own tea strainers, in case I didn't have one - so sweet!!! (I didn't have one - now I do!)

That tea is MARVELOUS!

The internet is a wonderful thing! I have good friends all over the world. Some I will never meet face to face, but I that isn't a requirement any more to kindle lasting friendships.

Kicking and Screaming - Bad Photo Day

*beats head against monitor*

Found some time this morning for me - *queue Mormon Tabernacle Choir* so I took advantage of it and made some new things.
Once again I struggled with the pictures...

How can I use a flash and they come out so dark???

I hunkered down and learned abit more about manipulating the color with Gimp

Light box Schmite box...............
Little better, but the contrast really mucks with the image and it is grainy.........

This one came out a little better.

God it felt good to sit at my workbench again! I have been wanting to work with these pendants for some time. I got them from my good friend Davinia of Back Pocket Designs. I love her work so much. My daughter has claimed the first one :)

ArtFire.com is doing a daily give away for $100 - I keep checking my numbers - one day it will be mine and I know where I will be shopping :)

Thursday Sillyness!!! Get a new do - win a prize!

I can't help myself -this was just too much fun.

My brother and I spent an afternoon putting each other in hairdos and laft till we cried.

Not making fun of the site, and what they offer - because it is a good idea, taken as it is intended. We took it a step further, and used silly pictures of ourselves and put ourselves in outrageous hair :)

Here is the link to the site that had us in stitches Virtual Hairstyles

Here are a couple examples of what we did :)

My brother in his prom hair

Me with luscious long blond locks!! (and chicklet teeth)

Brave enuff to do a picture of yourself? Leave me a link to your photobucket or flickr page that has the image, and I'll put your name in the hat for a goodie package :)

I dare you :)

Do you know Kyanite?

This is one of my all time favorites. Maybe it is the blue, maybe it is the properties, maybe it is the texture in the stone, maybe it is all of the above, but I can say, kyanite makes my heart happy.

The name kyanite comes from the Greek word kuanos sometimes referred to as "kyanos", meaning deep blue.

I this from a rockhounds blog -
Outside of Philadelphia, behind a baseball field in an old early suburban areas, Kyanite of a very decent quality can be obtained. But don’t forget to bring your rubber gloves! ...Read More

How fun would it be to do this!!!!

Kyanite is a gemstone that does not accumulate negative energies, so it never needs to be cleansed. It is also known to bring tranquility and calm. Along with this, it is said to promote the ability to speak more easily and express oneself more clearly, and will even assist in learning a new language.

If you are in a position where you are required to speak, i.e. lecture, present, etc. you would benefit from kyanite!

I combined the kyanite with citrine for a double dose of blocking negativity - how can you go wrong :)

ArtFire Wed. Collection - Delicious Denim

New copper bangles!

I got some inspiration from Karen of Artful Crafts addition to the Artbeads.com's Photos - Colors of Fall Design Partners Gallery I, copper bangle.

Isn't this the GREATEST!!! I fell in love with this design and I had to try and make one myself.

I used 12 ga wire and wrapped it around a spray paint can. That makes about a 7 1/2 inch bangle. Made loops at the ends of the wire and hammered them. Then I took 22 ga wire and wrapped all the way around the bangle to hold the wire in shape. Next took more 22 ga wire and started to wrap and add beads - alternating with seed beads and gemstones.

Loads of fun and really quick to make. I was surprised I could make one in about an hour.

Happy Birthday to me :) New Pendant

Today is my birthday, and I sat down this morning before work and made something for me. I have had this pendant bead for nearly a year and wasn't quite sure what to do with it. I was told it was carnelian, or sardonyx, but I think it is porcelain. Just from the looks of the holes.

It didn't take any time at all. I love the swirls, I was going for an abstract goddess look, if you know what I mean.

Then I made these earrings to go with it.

It is rare I make something with the intention of keeping it. I did something for me for a change, and it feels good!!!!

Picture Jasper Focal Pendant from Rings & Things!

Let me just say - I love this focal pendant. !!! * I love picture jasper!!!

It was so easy to put these pieces together, it nearly made itself. The shape, colors and pattern of the pendant work with just about anything. I stood out in the yard this morning with my dogs, sloppin around in the wet leaves and carried this pendant around with me. The neighboor has a burning bush in their yard, quite similar to this -

A lot of the inspiration of the necklace came from this.

It was fun to put all of the different components together to make an organized random mix of beads, textures and colors. The eclectic look makes the necklace as versatile as it is unique.

This is one I will most likely keep for myself :)

Thanks Rings & Things for such a great pendant to work with!
