Button Bracelet - Epic Fail

I have been kicking around this bracelet for well over a month now......

I want a button charm bracelet. I had one a million years ago back in the 80's, made with shank back buttons and jump rings. I wore it all the time.

I have some really fun spring colored buttons, and have tried several ways to attach them to this chain. This attempt, I tried using a brightly colored wire and wire wrap the buttons onto the chain.

FAIL!

I think the wire is too thin, and the color I was wanting the wire to add, as a compliment, seems to cheapen the design.

What do you think - How should I attach these buttons? I can make jump rings of various sizes and attach them that way, or should I try a different wire wrapping technique?

  1. I'm afraid I'm not much help, the only buttons I've ever used are the ones with shanks. But with your fantastic wire working skills I'm sure you'll come up with something.

  2. Did you see The Beading Gem's button jewelry tutorials yesterday? Lots of cute ideas there!

  3. Maybe silver wire might look nice, it would match the chain allowing the color focus to be on the buttons. You could do wire wraps, or you could use silver Soft Flex to make loops to attach the buttons to the chain.
