Flood the Streets with Art VI - It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Flood the streets with Art and Bonnaroo are the two things I look forward to every year.

Like wish my life away kinda look forward to.

Here is a short blurb from Scott Wong the creator of FTSWA

The goal is simple: On BLACK FRIDAY  I want every artist, human being, man, woman & child on our planet to drop one piece art they've created on the streets of their community for a random stranger to find, pick up, take home & love. Yes, for FREE.

OMG!! I am gonna drop art all over the place.

When I first started, I was dropping only jewelry, because that was my art. Over time, I have added paintings, crocheted hats and scarves and tie dye to my drops.

I love prepping my work, tagging it with a big ole - "I'M FREE" tag and then driving around in the wee hours of the morning on Black Friday and hiding little treasures around the area.

This year I dropped 5 paintings, 3 pairs of earrings and 2 necklaces, it was so cold!!!

I was very excited Friday morning, and when I was done, and home drinking coffee, a little disappointed it was over. Kinda like Christmas morning.

Now I sit back and wait, until June when it is time to go to Bonnaroo, and I do my art abandonment there.

It's the small things :)

Until then, thanks for stopping by and remember:

Be peaceful, be kind, it's important!

All of my jewelry creations are based on the metaphysical properties of the stones or the colors that are incorporated. Jewelry should be a window to our soul, a protector of our emotions and a companion to our spirit. All of my other creations come directly from my heart in hopes they touch yours as well. Exploration in Creativity - Acrylic Abstract Painting

Inspiration is all around me, and it keeps a constant chatter in the creative recesses of my brain. Some things that inspire me or not jewelry related, therefore I explore many creative outlets. Painting has become an outlet of creativity for me. And I love it

August I went on vacation with my brother Toog (or Jerry Piper as the rest of the world knows him) to Santa Fe/Taos and I was blown away. We ran at break neck speeds all over the town going thru every gallery to take in as much 'culture' as we could. We took in so much, I think, no, I know, I blacked out a couple of times. So much stimuli, I was in art overload, and I loved it.

My painting style has been forever changed. From exploratory to experimental, and I really think I have found my niche.

I can't wait to see where this journey takes me.

And as always, Be peaceful, Be kind

My new necklace from Back Pocket Designs

I am a huge fan of Back Pocket Designs, and have been since I wandered in on Davinia's blog, Deez News.

I am crazy about several of her pieces and completely in love with her designs. She goes places with her jewelry that I can only dream about.

I couldn't help myself when she posted this piece:

I had to have it. I popped her a note saying - 'you need to put that up on your ArtFire shop so I can buy it!' And she did. Prior to this little beauty stealing my heart, I had this one pegged -

Oh wait - don't forget this one

Do you see the genius at work here?!?

So you can imagine my excitement when the package finally came!!!! I squealed at the mail box and ripped it open right there. Jumping up and down on the side of the road like a goof.

Inside she had also added her business card and attached......

An awesome pair of earrings. She threw those in as a gift. Aren't they wonderful!!!

Here is the thing kids - your business card and a pair of earrings is some of the most effective marketing/advertising you can do! I don't go anywhere without my little packets made up. You never know when you will met someone who will want your card and you will see how thrilled they are to get a tiny pair of earrings with it. (some people have even tried to pay me for the earrings!)

And here I am - all gussied up in my NEW BACK POCKET DESIGN NECKLACE!!!!!!

I will wear it everyday!!!!!!

Natural Neighbor

Doing shows, markets, festivals and fairs you start to run across the same people, following the same circut, doing the same thing as you- trying to sell their wares.

At the flea market I met some wonderful people and have kindled some wonderful friendships because of it. One of my friends Liz has The Natural Neighbor Shop. Her shop is this wonderful little eclectic schmattering of goods. She is passionate about supporting local, supporting handmade and supporting products that are earth friendly. She is kind enough to share the shelf space in her store with local artists and vendors who share the same passions as her. She carries a variety of goods such as -

Charlies Soap

Beeswax Candles

Natural Soaps (made by Liz - we love and use the Ocean Breeze and Champaka)

Sea Salt (I love this stuff)

Liz has extended an invitation to me to have a display in her shop. She has allowed me to create this little showcase of some of my pieces, with my cards, a copy of Bead Trends and my bio. I am thrilled and honored that she considers my things 'cool' enough to be in her shop.

Thanks Liz!!

Taken with my phone - sorry for the blur

Playin' A Game

All the cool kids are doing it!

I saw this on face book - I think it will be a lot of fun (am participating there too) to modify it a bit and play it here too! It is a handmade gift promise. No requirements on what it is, as long as it is hand made by me. It would be fun to be able to try a different craft, to experiment outside the comfort zone and see what new addictions are out there!

Here's how it works!

The first five people to leave a comment on this post will get something made by me. There are some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.

2. What I create will be just for you, with love.

3. It'll be done this year in 2009.

4. I will not give any clue what it's going be.

5. You must make the same commitment and post this on your blog and share the love! If you do comment to this post, I will verify that you have indeed reposted this to your blog before you qualify for the random goodies, crafted just for you, with love from me!

There ya have it kids!!! Who wants to play!?!!
