I received an email from Duchess at ArtBeads.com saying for the next couple months ArtBeads would like to "focus on summer themes, whether it’s fun outdoor activities, summer vacations, nature scenes or just the lovely season itself."

So for this months blogger challenge I have chosen items from their Charms, Pendants, and Glass Beads categories for my summertime fun!

Look at this haul!!!

Clockwise starting with the amethyst glass -
FP-AMYLT6 - Czech Fire Polished Bead - Light Amethyst - 6mm * $2.56/50 pk
CR-OV018 - 11x9mm Orange w/ Picasso Oval * .34/each
CR-SP064 - Czech Glass Yellow Tiger's Eye Large Spade * .84/each

LMP-0168 - Purple, White and Orange Flowers with Purple Center Mix Bicone Beads (5 Pcs) * $23.47 (these are now out of stock, they are VERY popular!)

Lets get a closeup on these, shall we!

Look at the detail on those lamp work beads. They are beautiful. When I pulled them out of the package, I will admit, I slobbered on myself a bit. I LOVE them! The amethyst glass is amazing also. They have some heft to them, like crystal. Ya know how crystals have some weight to them, but glass and be very light? Mebbe it is the quality of the glass as well. These are lovely!

ArtBeads will be posting their blog partners designs on their “Summertime” Facebook Gallery post starting June 21st. Stop by their Facebook page to see them all!!

Rings & Things blogger challenge - Skull charm necklace

I have this wonderful blogger packet from Rings & Things chocked full of fun items. I don't know where to begin!

The other nite while drifting off to sleep I thought it would be fun to put those beads on a key ring and add a bunch of charms as well. Instead of using the key ring as it was intended I looped leather through it and made it into a necklace.

The split ring of the key ring allows you to add or remove charms at your whim. It can be changed at any time to go with any mood or anything that you are wearing!

Close up

Featured is the 28-335-15 Lampwork 'calavera' skull bead (black, white) * from Rings & Things
along with glass beads, a diary key, a peace sign and some gemstone chips.

So much fun to throw on over your head and go!

Fun bracelet with spring dangles!

Remember the chain bracelets I got last week? I got to play around with them and have come up with a couple designs.

This is the Springtime Anytime bracelet

These are fun vintage pearl buttons around the bracelet and I have added Czech cubes, swarovski crystals, daisy glass beads and a fresh water pearl.

I have worked up an autumn one, and I have two more bracelets left. I think I will do one for each season!

Bead Trends deadline for submission is tomorrow, with categories of bracelets and dangles...I am gonna submit!

Stay tuned!

Rings & Things Blogger Challenge - Christmas baubles!

Am at home sick today with a bad head cold and sore throat. I am coming out of my self induced medicated coma and watching it rain outside. There is only so many hours a person can sleep a day. I am at that restless state. I sat at my work table trying to find something to do to keep me busy and to take my mind off of being sick.

I began to clean and organize, yet again. During my cleaning I saw the Christmassy lampwork beads from Rings & Things Blog Partner package. I have two more shows before Christmas so why not make something with these.

These little guys put me way out of my comfort zone. I am not a 'themed' creator. It is really difficult for me to use an item in a piece that is so limited in its use - season wise. I almost feel like a sell out creating what I have. Sometimes I guess you just have to go with what is obvious.

Here is what I used.

40-099-24-7 - Chain, Footage, Oval Curb, 10.5mm (Antiqued Copper Plated) *
28-333-59 - Christmas Tree Glass Bead (Limited Stock)(Green/Red/White)*
28-333-72 - Christmas Teddy Bear Glass Bead (Limited Stock)(Brown)*
28-333-73 - Christmas Penguin Glass Bead (Limited Stock)(Black/White)*
28-333-69 - Christmas Stocking Glass Bead (Limited Stock)(Green/Red)*
Random plastic beads from my inventory

I used head pins and created charms out of each of the beads. I added copper spacers to some and seed beads to others to keep the head of the pin from going thru the large hole. It adds a bit to the bead as well. I attached each with a jump ring to the chain. Using the jump ring as opposed to wrapping them directly to the chain links gives the charms more motion, and isn't that what you want with a charm bracelet?

Here's what I used.

28-333-67-211 - Gingerbread Man Glass Bead (Limited Stock)(Red)*
Leather
Lampwork bead from a repurposed bracelet
metal clip

The holes in these beads are big, making them very versatile with what you can string them on. This would be a cute zipper pull or back pack decoration for the holiday season.

These little lampwork cuties come on a strand of approx 15 - 17 beads and cost approx .50 each. How can you not use these for all of your holiday needs. Not only can you use them in jewelry/accessory designs as I have, but with the large hole, you can use them to decorate nearly everything. Try running ribbon through the hole and tying them to the packages!

This I made for myself. I love this little bottle. It is the cutest. I wanted to do something with it that would keep it with me all the time. Keychain! I filled the bottle with orange seed beads. Orange being the color of creativity. Then paired it up with magnesite, carnelian and citrine to round out the purpose I need this keychain for.

56-999-05-042 - Octagon Glass Bottle (Clear)*
Magnesite, 15x20mm Nugget Bead *

Magnesite brings a deep peace to meditation and relaxation. Magnesite can be very helpful in the practice of unconditional love in situations where relationships with other people are difficult because of their behavior or addictions. It helps you to feel centered, standing by, allowing the other person to be who they are without requiring them to change or be affected in anyway by their difficulties.

Carnelian is a stone of creativity, individuality and courage. It also brings a relief from anger, jealousy and fear. In addition it can help with manifestation of one’s desires, and brings good luck.

Citrine is known as a “success” stone because it is said in folklore to promote success and abundance, especially in business and commerce. Its lore also says that it enhances mental clarity, confidence, happiness and will power. Citrine is purported to bring good fortune, sometimes in very unexpected ways.

There is still time to order these little gems for your holiday needs. What would you do with them?

It's like christmas! Great things in my mail box!

Like a double whammy, but in a good way - I go to my mailbox and there I have not only my selections for the Sept. Rings & Things blogger challenge, but I have the necklace that I ordered from Dawno.

I squealed and danced in the street in front of my mailbox when I saw this wonderful double bounty.

Here is what came from Rings & Things -

4- Sterling silver rope design "S" clasps.
1 - Strand of 10 x 10 faceted fan beads - multistone.
1 - Sterling silver leaf face charm
1 - Sterling silver key charm
1 - 100 ct. India dancing bells
1 - Ocean jasper T-Drop pendant
1 - Moss agate T-Drop pendant

I grossly misjudged the size of the pendants, but I am not disappointed at all - They are Beautiful!! I can't wait to work with them. The faceted fans are brilliant. The bells made my heart happy - so many uses for this little gems. I had the design in my head when I ordered the pieces. Now all I have to do is sit down and build them. I will get started tonite.

Dawno had blogged about a necklace she made a month or so back. I fell in love with the hand made pendant and the necklace design. I began to pester her, asking when will I be seeing it on her ArtFire store so I can buy it. Come to find out - she had made it, and intended to keep it for herslelf. :( Dawno was so gracious as to order a focal pendant and create another one for me!

I love this necklace. It is fun and bright, and honestly will go with anything. I dont' want to limit it to just spring and summer wear. It is so lovely and the beautiful spring flowers are sure to lighten any winter duldrum!

Dawno was kind enuff to share with me where she got all the componets to make the necklace so I can share them with you.

The pendant is a beautiful. It is a Patti Stoll creation.

The blue beads are vintage Lucite - Sapphire moonglow rice ovals 9x15mm, from The Beadin' Path and the opaque yellow glass are 6mm Czech Druk beads from Fire Mountain Gems.

Now look at this craftsmanship - brilliant, sturdy, and beautiful! What a combination.

The scrimps are from Rings & Things. They cost a bit more, but are worth the investment. They add a polished touch to the design, very professional. The benefit to the scrimp is if the design needs to be re worked, you do not damage the beading wire by removing them. Just a turn of a little screw and you can do what you need to re work or even repair the piece. Not like crimp tubes, which require being cut off just so, as to not ruin the coating on the beading wire and cause fraying.

Now look at the Wire Guardians - cable thimbles. This keeps the beading wire safe from fray and crimping by threading the wire thru the 'stay' and then around the jump ring or the connector ring to the clasp. It prevents the wire from mashing or the protective coating from being damaged and causing the wire to fray. That can be uncomfortable and prickly!

And of course I am wearing it :)
