Pantone Fall 2018 Color Report

Going into Sept every year I always take a peek at the Pantone choices for fall colors. I know the colors are announced a season ahead, which makes sense because of the timeline needed for creation and production, but I think it is fun to wait and look.

I love this year!

Red pear, valiant poppy, nebulas blue, ceylon yellow, martini olive (yum!)

Russet orange, ultra violet, crocus petal, limelight, quetzal green

What is fun, without even looking at the fall colors until I wrote this post, I almost feel I am in tuned to what is going on this year, based on the color choices of my new tie dye shirt I made yesterday!!

I dont' think i was that far off do you??

Dangle Bracelets and Skulls!

I got these awesome dyed magnesite skulls a few years ago from The Rings & Things Road Show that comes thru here every June. I bought them because there were on sale, and they are cute :)

I had no idea what I would do with them, so I tucked them away til the inspiration hit. Good thing there is no expiration date on these little beauties :)

I played with a few earring designs, but they were too heavy. I tried working them into necklaces, but they didn't lay right. Then one day working on a dangle bracelet, I spied one of the skulls.

Hrm

I wrapped one up quick and slid it into the mix.

IT WORKED!!!

What I love about the design is the skulls don't have to be goth, or angry, or militant - they can be cute. And that's where it's at :)

ArtBeads Colors of Fall Design Partner Challenge!

ArtBeads did a great design partner challenge this go around using the 2010 Fall color pallet as the guide. Choose components that co ordinate with the color pallet as your challenge. Great colors for fall this year:

Fall is a beautiful time of year, especially in the south. Coming out of those long hot dog days of summer into the clear crisp fall days is such a treat. Fall lasts longer here, mixing with the final hues of summer, the colors are amazing. As the summer fades, you still see scants of green hanging from tree branches heading into their winter slumber.

You ever smell grapes in the fall - right after a frost?? OMG - the best smell in the world. The leaves turn brown and the little vine "curly Q's" come peaking out, and there are just a couple little green grapes left. That was the inspiration for these earrings. Using the Fire-Polished Bead 8mm Opaque Turqoise Picasso beads (FPS-PI-OTU8) to represent the grapes, and hung them from copper curls - they look like little grapes don't they?? :)

Then you have all of those wonderful fall colors, warm and bright. Picasso glass from Art Beads, (white and turquoise) along with mookite make fun clusters at the bottom of this necklace.

This is a fun, almost beachy style necklace. Leather thong with copper coils to hold it together in a faux bolo style. The grouping of beads hanging from the ends look like groups of leaves hanging low on branches. There is a hint of sparkle from the Swarovski crystals, like that sparkle of dew in the mornings.

It has a fun and off center style.

Have you seen the colors on fire during the autumn sunset? Love the horizon during the fall. The sun is most spectacular during the fall.

I have to tell you, I am thrilled - THRILLED with that copper chain. It makes my heart happy!! it is beautiful.

That copper plated oval chain inspired me as soon as I opened the package. I gathered up the left over beads I had from the 'sand dancer' necklace and got to work. The large purple resin bead was set to be the focal of this necklace. I didn't want to take away from the beauty of the chain but use it to be the showcase for the pendant. I made a wire wrapped loop and attached a copper link to it. I packed the link with beads to add motion to the piece. Next I added a few beads up one side of the chain to help to lead your eyes to the focal.

Here, the purple resin bead as the focal, accented with green spider cubes, topaz glass druk beads, rainbow carnelian squares, Czech glass, amethyst rounds and Swarovski crystals.

While on the phone with my daughter I started this bracelet. I never make bracelets. I love the multi strand bracelets and the bulk of them. I thought the mass of the bracelet would be a nice offset to the simplicity of the necklace. I have made several of this style of bracelet but why I don't continue to do them is a mystery.

Finished off the set with a simple pair of earrings.

And of course, I am wearing them today!

Beadin Path Design Partner - What a haul!!!

What a thrill I had yesterday when I got home from work and found a package in my mail box from Beadin Path! Heather at Beadin Path had given me a heads up there was a package in the mail, but I did not expect this! Imagine my surprise to find so much stuffed into that padded envelope. A squeal escaped me as I dumped them onto the table, and I will admit, I slobbered a little in my glee.

Beadin Path is so generous to their Design Partners and for that I am forever grateful. The vintage lucite beads are too much fun. You can go crazy with big bulky designs and not have to worry about the weight. The textures, colors and patterns of the beads are so much fun to combine in a piece, it allows you to work outside your creative comfort zone and find new ways to express yourself.

There were no inventory tags on these strands and I had to go to the site to poke around (hurt my feelings!) and find out what each one was.

New Design - Lepidolite and amazonite necklace

According to The Insider, bold, large, chunky, statement making jewelry is where it's at this 2009 fall/winter season. I couldn't be happier! Granted what was seen on the run way is an over the top statement of what will be in stores this year. My style is just that, chunky necklaces that are the focal of the wardrobe, not the accent to the ensemble.

This morning over coffee and between chasing the dogs up and down the stairs and around the yard, I wanted to make one of those 'non seasonal committed' necklaces. I wanted a big fun necklace that will go great during any season and with any wardrobe. I think I did it.

Great colors of purples, grays, and sea foam greens accented with copper on a warm chocolaty hemp cord. Perfect for fall, creates happy thoughts during the winter, cheers on the spring and cools off the summer.

Yup - it's a keeper.

Fall color trends 2009
