April issue Bead Trends

I was fortunate to have had two of my pieces published in this months Bead Trend magazine. Now that the issue has been out on the stands for a while, I thought I would share my 'spread' with you :)

Sand Dancer - made from large resin beads * I got as a blog partner with Art Beads and beautiful scalloped copper bead caps I purchased from Rings & Things

They used two pages for this piece. The left page for the directions, and a close

And the facing page for the full piece.

Here I have used the purple and orange beads capped with copper as the focal of the necklace. Copper jump rings attached to copper links make the chain, and are accented with green spider cubes, topaz glass druk beads, rainbow carnelian squares, Czech glass and Swarovski crystals.

Random Elegance

Marbled ovals, faceted moonstone heishi beads, lampwork beads, and pearls are all from Sedona Stones. The vintage glass beads, seed beads and sterling are from my inventory.

On the facing page were two detail shots and the directions for making the necklace.

October Bead Trends

The October issue of Bead Trends is on the stands. I am thrilled to have two pieces in this months issue.

One is from a Rings & Things blogger challenge from back in April or May. I call it 'Char'd and Chunky'. It is a fun piece, with multi strands. It appears bulky, but don't let the size of the beads fool you, these lava beads are light. I had a lot of fun with this combination - over the top naturally textured lava beads accented with dainty shiney swarovski crystals. You just wouldn't think to put the two together.

The other piece is a fun whimsical piece I call Patsy's Candy. I was in Illinois visiting my daughter when I found the focal for this piece. We went to tons of little shops on the main street of her town looking for treasures. These little glass candies bring back so many memories for me as a kid. I remember my mom having a bowl of glass candies. I use to love them. I loved them so much, that many years later I started my own collection of these glass goodies. I thought it would be fun to showcase the candy as the focal on a necklace. I wanted to keep it young/hip.

On the newstands!

The June issue of Bead Trends is on the stands, and chocked full of spectacular pictures, great artwork, splendid instructions, and tons of inspiration!

Junes issue has three of my pieces, and each month through November will have at least one of my pieces represented! In case you can't get out to get a copy, I'll share mine with you here!

The Cover

Scatter Wishes - Rose quartz, faceted citrine, Czech and swarovski crystals

Strolling thru the Infiorata - Murano glass pendant, random gemstone, lampwork, glass and seed beads. My dad sent me this Murano glass pendant for Christmast, and told me to do something grand with it :)

Jo's Jewelry - Bronzite, porcelain, dyed howlite, 'raspberry quartz' glass. My daughter has a way of downplaying her clothes and wearing jewelry as the fashion statement. Her clothes are more or less the catalyst for her jewelry, purses, and scarves. I made this in a screaming, bold tribute to her.

That is my 15 minutes of fame in June!!! Till tomorrow kids!
