Chunky Amethyst and Dyed Quartz Points Necklace - Jewelry with Purpose - Amplified Peace

I made this one with great excitement when I found out the jewelry trends for 2019 were going to be big, chunky styles.

Thats my favorite!

Big amethyst beads offset with dyed AB finish quartz points. A handmade wire wrapped sterling free form wire pendant is the focal.

It's not a long piece, 19", so it sits just passed the collar bone. Right at the opening of a shirt, and becomes the star of the show.

Amethyst is the stone of peace and calm, and quartz is an energy amplifier.
Not a bad thing to have amped up!

I won't be offended if this necklace is out of trend now, because it is just my style, and I may have to start wearing it!!!

See this necklace and more at my Etsy Shop!!

"Citrine" Earring and Necklace Set - Abundance and Success

Big debate, is it really citrine or is it heat treated amethyst. If you are buying it as beads and you are getting a great deal, most likely it is heat treated amethyst.

These little faceted briolettes were sold to me from Firemountain Gems as citrine (heat treated) and that is why I am a huge fan of their site. They know their product, and they share all information with their buyers. Plus the deals there are awesome!

These little beauties made the cutest little earring/necklace set. Tiny little faceted briolettes, wire wrapped with sterling wire, on a sterling loop. They are the perfect dainty length, and have just enough swing to them to be a bit sassy!

Beautifully uniform so it was easy to just pick two to make the earring set, and add one for the pendant.

Citrine is the stone of abundance and prosperity. It repels negative energy.

Thanks Firemountain Gems for making this set so easy to create!

Rhyolite and Jasper Necklace

Here is the first of my designs using this years Spring palette that I wrote about in my last entry.
Rhyolite focal stone with jasper, swarovski crystal and light blue glass beads.  I pulled the colors for the beads from the focal stone.

Jasper is a tender stone allowing itself to bestow gentleness on the wearer.

I am always in awe at the color combinations that are found in nature that just work!

Fun New Dangle Necklaces!!!

I am all about the dangle, the charm look. I keep going back to this type of design.

When I first started making jewelry it was just a natural progression to hand wrap beads and hang them on chain. Just the next step in learning jewelry design, so to speak.

I re visited that old design and have come up with these :)

I call these "Anything Goes"

This is a fun idea to use up the one offs that you have laying around from other designs. It makes a great collection of color, textures and sizes.  Even as you re purpose your older jewelry, set a couple beads behind, and you can make a memory necklace for yourself!!!!!

Right now these are only available locally at The Green Monkey, but I promise you will be seeing them soon in my Etsy store!!!

It's Purple Day! What would you wear?

It's Purple Day! What would you wear to celebrate? Would you wear purple clothes and accent with a different color jewelry, or just go all out and wear all purple!!!!! Let me know - better yet, post pictures!!!!!

Clusters, Clusters, CLUSTERS!!!!

I can't stop with the clusters. I am in love with them!

Each time you look at them, you find something new.

Each time you move, there is a tiny rustle from the beads. Like a tiny whisper - we are here!! Puts a confident spring in your step.

Solid colors, or color combinations, the list goes on and on. I think I may have found my niche :)

Faceted Fancy Jasper in a New Autumn Necklace

The weather has been glorious the past few days. Really putting me in the mood for fall.

I grabbed that fall muse by the hand and ran down the path of creativity giggling all the way. I have been very happy with myself the past few days, being able  to find time to create more jewelry and get it posted online.

This one is really a favorite of what I have been doing. These stones together have a beautiful offering of peace and gentleness. TTiny faceted fancy jasper beads are the accent to the piece, with a rose colored ceramic pendant. I added the tree agate, because summer is not yet over, and there is still plenty of green to be had. It is a nice splash of color, just like what is in my yard, and the fancy jasper is the leaves that have just started to fall, and are scattered around.

Notice how there are three seed beads between each of the stones, expect for in one spot. I do this intentionally. It is a signature so to speak. Yes there is a pattern, but everyonceinawhile, I like to mess it up, to remind myself, I am not perfect. I still have so much to learn and so much to do - if I was perfect, what else would there be?

Do you have a signature or message that you put into your designs, something that is a little bit of you?

"Chicken Slayer" Viking Pendant Necklace

A couple weeks ago I got the visit of a lifetime. My friend Jenny, of whom I had never met face to face, but we have been dear friends online for nearly 10 years, came to visit me from Sweden!!! We had 10 glorious days together doing everything we could think of and then some. We definitely didn't waste anytime, we were always busy. She brought me the greatest little gifts. One of them was this little brass pendant. She thought I could do something with it. The pendant is a replica of Viking jewelry. I got really excited when I looked at the pendant, because there was a dragon on it. She politely told me - "It is a chicken darling"

I am still not convinced

I couldn't wait to sit down and get to work on this. I paired up the pendant with this large TierraCast bead I have been hoarding for so long from Rings and Things , they no longer have it on their site :(

I knew I had to use iolite. Iolite is known by some as 'The Viking' stone. The vikings cut slabs of iolite very thin and held it up to the sky on very cloudy/foggy days to find the sun and help them navigate their ships. Iolite is also one of my favorite stones. So to incorporate that into the piece has even more meaning. I added rainbow obsidian and tourmaline, with little brass cap accents. I used seed beads to separate the beads, which also allows the design to have a better flow
I also wanted this to be a simple design, to compliment the 'age' of the pendant.

I am so excited about this piece. It has been a while since I have made something for myself. I am thrilled by this gift from my friend, and can't wait to wear it!
What do you think? Chicken or Dragon?

New from Old! Necklace Reborn

Mom sent me this little necklace and said - Make me something new, that I can pull over my head and not have to worry bout a clasp.

My nephew is getting married, and from what I understood, when he was little, he bought this for mom. She thought it would be fun to remake it into something else and then wear it to the wedding.

She says "I am wearing mint green and wheat"

me "...........................................................................................what is wheat?"

I didn't really have time to go online and start looking around, and I wanted to hold up the necklace next to different beads and see how it would go. Bless the lady who was shopping while I was at Michaels. I have no idea what mint is to be honest, and this lady was happy to jump in the beads with me and start looking for beads to go with the blue. I got this strand of glass, and some gold chain. Added my own crystals, and guess what - found some stone ware wheat colored beads.....

VIOLA!!!

Reborn!

Mom called me - She loves it!

Copper Wire Heart Necklace

I don't as a rule duplicate my work, but this is so cute, and so customizable. The heart is 14 ga wire, free formed into a heart, hammered, and wire wrapped at the loops for strength. Then going with the obvious - heart, red - I wrapped it with a few accent beads for a color splash.

Any color combination could be used, and any blessing could be added, say, amethyst for peace, who doesn't want a peaceful heart, or agate for harmony, who doesnt' want a harmonious heart!

Do you duplicate your work or do you like to keep all of your work one of a kinds? Do you find it difficult to keep the creativity going when all of your work is one of a kind?

Glass and Copper Heart Necklace

I am thinking ahead to warmer weather. Projecting myself into the end of March, the first of April, with the green grass, and budding trees. The colors in this necklace take me there. Bright and springy.

Carnelian and Rhyolite

I have a selection of jewelry that I call K.I.S.S. - we all know what it stands for :) As much as I love the random, the over the top and the whimsy, there are times where just simple is best. Letting the elements compliment each other simply. That is what I did with this necklace.

I found the carnelian chips at Artbeads.com I love their deep and warm color. It is one of my favorite stones. Who am I kidding, they are all my favorites :)

Looking at the strand, I knew I didn't want to break up the chips and use them as accents. I really wanted them to be the bulk of the design. And when it did come together, it was wonderful!

Small carnelian chips with copper beads and a rhyolite focal.
Carnelian - Creativity, Individuality, Courage
 Rhyolite - Perseverance, Communication

I love how the carnelian accents the ochre colored deposits in the focal stone. Perfect!

It is warm and inviting, making you approachable. It is delicious in every aspect of the word.

In Love with Lapis

I love to order assortments. It keeps me on my creative toes. I LOVE lapis and loved this assortment from Firemountain Gems

This Lapis Assortment came with a good amount of beads, and except for the smallest, no two were like. Which made it even more fun :)

Lapis Lazuli brings truthfulness, openness, inner power, intuition, creativity, virility and manifestation. It strengthens the mind and body as well as increasing awareness and spiritual connection/evolution. It can help organize daily life as well as organizing and quieting a busy or restless mind. Lapis Lazuli is also used to contact with guardian spirits. Who wouldn't want that in their life!

Lapis also makes me think of blue jeans, it is comfortable, goes with anything, can be dressed up or dressed down, so versatile. I wanted to make a design that could be both as well.  I wire wrapped each stone to a twisted copper link and finished it off with a simple black cord, with the clasp on the side. Leaving the long lapis piece for the focal.  I pared the lapis with smoky quartz.

Smoky quartz is an excellent stone for removing negativity and negative energy of any kind and transforming them to positive energy. It is also a very protective and grounding stone. It brings physical, protection, psychic protection and protection from negative energy. It enhances survival instincts, and can help one reach personal and business goals, as well as assisting in making wishes come true.

They just go so well together dont' they?

*sigh* This is one I may have to keep for myself :)

KISS Collection - Message Necklaces

Most of us are familiar with the KISS theory (Keep It Simple Stupid) and I am adopting this for a new line of necklaces. Simple designs with a straight forward message. Not everyone is looking for an 'edge' with their style. Sometimes you don't want to be 'on' all the time, you just wanna blend. This is what this line is about. Amazonite and Agate - a combination of honesty and harmony.
Rose quartz and Jade - Love, love and more love :)
When the statement is not as important as the message. These designs say what you need them to say, simply, elegantly and honestly.

Peace and Love - Messages from a stone necklace

I love being inspired by one component of a design and starting the build from there. The glass heart pendant started this design. The green in the glass was a perfect compliment to the sandy colors of the jasper beads. Jasper is the stone of gentleness and nurturing. It is said to bring joy. Why not pair it up with that heart, and wear your heart out for all to see and bring joy to those around you!
The little brass clasp with the peace symbol - didn't take much to push me in that direction :) Amethyst, fluorite, apatite and tourmalated rose quartz. Coupled with the lampwork heart - all speak peace.
I added the blue shell that I found on the beach as a personal touch, and now I am a bit torn about it... Should I change it up? Does it need a different focal? Should I stop over analyzing it?

Inexpensive Glamor

I got a mix bag of acrylic beads from Firemountain Gems a while back, and have had so much playing with them.
There is a great source of inspiration in this fun little mix.

This is my latest creation using those acrylic beads, and adding some chain, and black stone.

Simple, inexpensive and oh so glamorous!

Re Purposed Necklace

A while back, you may remember my post about the fun jewelry my sister-in-law sent to me. This has been a great source of inspiration and fun.

I dug thru the bag and found some awesome button covers. Hello 90's! Working with gold is way out of my comfort zone, so I challeneged myself this morning to create. I had a bit of gold wire from a custom order, so I set to work.

This delicious mess of disguarded jewlery proved to be a treasure trove of gold accents to work into this piece.

If you look closely at the top photo you will see the gold beaded strand that I used as the base of the design, and the button covers peaking out. I incoporated gold beads from another necklace, and some fun plastic beads I got as a grab bag. Way too much fun this morning!

Copper, Dyed Agate, Bronzite and Glass Necklace

Take me back to 1972, and the hippies who used to live up the road from us. That live in the moment, take life as it comes, the universe will provide way of thinking, and you will see the inspiration for this necklace.

I love random designs, and how they tell a different story depending on who is looking at it.  You may have to turn your head from one side to the other to 'see' it, but it will speak to you :)

Finding Inspiration - New Sweater

In a bit of a creative rut lately, just not finding any inspiration.
The other day I stopped by the thrift store, looking for a new sweater (cool weather is here and I am completely unprepared)

I found this little beauty. Nice cotton, heavy, and BRIGHT! Perfect way to combat the fall doldrums.

One morning before work, I was looking at my sweater, and I wanted a new necklace. I love the colors in this, it would work great for a necklace. So I came up with this. I added the blue in there for the blue jeans I was wearing :)

It goes perfect!

Where are you getting your inspiration from?

New York Blues - More Vacation

Wasn't that a T.V. show??

This 'set' ended up happening while making a bunch of separates :)

Off set design of copper chain, lapis, and crystals

Lapis wrapped in copper with swarovski accents for the focal

Lapis, glass pearls, swarovski, iolite and chalcedony randomish necklace

Copper bangle with lapis, glass pearls, swarovski crystals and chalcedony

I kept working with the same handful until they were all gone and came up with all of these! The strung necklace is the perfect length to wear with the chain necklace as a great compliment. I did make a pair of earrings but forgot to take the picture :)

These stones are such a sweet and gentle combination. Blue is a peaceful color in itself and these stones are a testament to that.

Lapis brings truthfulness, openness, and creativity. It can help organize daily life as well as organizing and quieting a busy or restless mind. Lapis also helps build self-confidence, and is a stone traditionally for royalty. Lapis bring spiritual love and is also known for enhancing love and fidelity within marriage.

Blue chalcedony is said to foster balance between mind, body and spirit. It is a stone of calm and peace that is reputed to reduce or negate hostility, anger, and irritation. It is also reported to metaphysically encourage and ease communication, particularly what would otherwise be emotionally charged communication.

Iolite one of the best stones to use in psychic, healing, and spiritual activities. It helps one grow spiritually in a gentle fashion. It is also said to help build relationships of all kinds.
