Serpentine Donut Pendant w/ Free Form Copper Accent - Jewelry with Meaning -

It all started with this:

I had an idea in my head for a pendant but I got too aggressive with the hammering and I broke the wire. I was so mad at myself. 

Step back. 

Take a breath. 

Re group. 

What can we do with this?

I began working with the broken piece, wire wrapping and shaping more so as a creative outlet, to keep the momentum going, than anything else. 

Pretty soon, a pendant started to form. 

It wasn't enough to be a stand alone piece, it needed something else. 

I randomly laid it down on my work bench, on top of a serpentine donut.

*queue the angel choir*

And there it was!!!

I just needed to figure out how to attach it to the donut. 

I am ridiculously pleased with this piece, and was very hard pressed to list it in my Etsy store. 

We are starting with a foundation of Serpentine which is comfort, revitalization, regeneration, connection with nature, now lets add tiger eye, jasper and moonstone to this to compliment the energy with protection, intuition and strength. 

This is a perfect companion for those on a new path, starting a journey where there is some doubt, or you are out of your comfort zone. 

I love it!!!

Black agate, so dark and luxurious it may make you think of onyx. 

Beautiful tear drop cab, so smooth, so dark, I could get lost in it. Like a scrying mirror.

Agate and Quartz Copper Wire Wrapped Pendant - Jewelry With Purpose - Harmony and Balance

This is a beautiful specimen of how agate and quartz form together, and probably a little chalcedony as well.  This little high dome cabochon has an outside rim of agate, and the inside is quartz.  I love the pattern of the lines of agate, and the intricacy of the quartz center.

Agate is a stone of balance and harmony. It improves concentration, and soothes anger and tension. It brings a feeling of security and safety. 

Quartz is a master healer, and an amplifier of energy. 

This is an awesome combination, and it happened naturally over millions of years.

Ruby Wire Wrapped with Copper Pendant - Compassion

To me it is fun to see the variations of the 'quality' of stones. Most of us think of a faceted little stone set in earrings or ring when we think of a ruby. That is the jeweler quality of the stone, but where does the stone come from? 

While mining for stones, there will be a vein, or pocket where the stones are mined. As they are sifting thru the ruby deposit, some portions of the vein are developed differently, in that more transparent, deep color that we are used to. 

But what about the rest of the ruby? 

This pendant is a great example of what can be done with what is discarded from the mines. 

A chunk of ruby, smoothed and formed into a cabochon with inclusions of what else may have been forming in the vein with it. 

BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Ruby has been associated with energy and concentration, creativity, loyalty, honor and compassion. Ruby is also a stone of protection.  Big protection. Used to protect, family, home and possessions. It also brings spiritual wisdom.

Ceramic Bead Wire Wrapped with Copper Wire Pendant - Wire Wrap for Beginners

Sometimes even the simplest little bead can be the most beautiful pendant. 

On occasion I find a strand or two of really pretty ceramic beads. They work great into a necklace design as accents, and are not has heavy as a stone bead of the same size. 

In these ceramic beads, I find a few that the pattern or the color after glazing it just too pretty to make it part of something. It needs to be the showcase. 

These are so simple to make, and are so pretty!!

Most ceramic beads have a big hole, so you can use two strands of wire This is 22 ga copper wire. 

Make a bale at the top of the wire, add an accent if you want and slide the bead onto the wire. 

Bend the tail of the wire up to the front of the bead and form a spiral or two, and then wrap the tail around the bale again to secure it into place. 

Separate the two wires on the bale to create a butterfly bail and you're done. 

The wire accent is on the front, and the back is nice and smooth.

It's that easy.

Bronzite Pendant

Some drilled beads can be so big, that they are hard to work into a design, mainly due to the weight of the stone. 

Such was the case of these 20mm bronzite bead. 

Why not make a focal of its own!

Bronzite is confidence and courage. It helps to resolve unsettled emotions. Great stone to use for new moon rituals. 

It was so simple! I used 18 ga sterling wire, made a bale at the top, pushed it thru the bead, brought it up the front of the bead, made a spiral and finished the tail at the bail. 

Viola!!

Titanium Coated Quartz Point Pendant

I got several drilled quartz points that were titanium coated, to give them this awesome rainbow finish. I can't remember where I got these from!!!

So easy to do just a quick wrap with sterling wire on the top to create the bale and a shabby chic design with the wire. I wanted the quartz point to be the focal, not the wire. 

I really am surprised at the weight of the pendant. It hangs beautifully from the sterling chain.

The light hits the quartz just right, and all the colors show up!

So much fun, and so versatile. Wear it alone or stack it with other necklaces to make your own look!

"Citrine" Earring and Necklace Set - Abundance and Success

Big debate, is it really citrine or is it heat treated amethyst. If you are buying it as beads and you are getting a great deal, most likely it is heat treated amethyst. 

These little faceted briolettes were sold to me from Firemountain Gems as citrine (heat treated) and that is why I am a huge fan of their site. They know their product, and they share all information with their buyers. Plus the deals there are awesome!

These little beauties made the cutest little earring/necklace set. Tiny little faceted briolettes, wire wrapped with sterling wire, on a sterling loop. They are the perfect dainty length, and have just enough swing to them to be a bit sassy!

Beautifully uniform so it was easy to just pick two to make the earring set, and add one for the pendant.

Citrine is the stone of abundance and prosperity. It repels negative energy.

Orbicular Jasper Pendant

I got a mess of jasper beads given to me by a friend. In this bag, were drilled focal beads in all different shapes and sizes. They are all perfect sizes for pendants. I love this little orbicular jasper, also ocean jasper.

It was the perfect stone to wrap in copper, not only because of its color, but because of its properties. Copper is an energy conductor and helps to amplify your thoughts. It also boosts your self-esteem. When someone is feeling agitated, angry, or distraught, your calming energies will help them calm down as well.

Orbicular jasper is known to be a nurturing and protective stone, like all jaspers. It can help encourage patience, release emotional blockages and rid us of pent-up anger. It is a stone of joy and renewed enthusiasm for the cycles of life, especially when worn or placed over the Heart chakra.  Orbicular Jasper eases depression and encourages empathy towards others, while at the same time preventing rivalries. Amethyst - Peace and Calm

Amethyst is the stone of peace and calm, creativity, all healing, an artists stone, it keeps your head in the game, balance and temperance and more. 

It is the birthstone of February, and the sobriety stone

I have quite the collection of amethyst beads in tear drops, faceted brioletes, faceted roundels, chips, coin, natural points and various sizes of rounds. 

While putting together some amethyst pieces to post for February, I came across this little heart shaped amethyst focal bead. 

I didn't want to take away from the heart by wrapping it too ornately, so I kept it simple. A bale, and a tiny spiral. Done.

The heart shape and smoothness of the stone, really resonated the peace and calm that is associated with this stone. 

This little one is spoken for, and will be going on a cruise this week. :)

Celebrating Libra's in October!

So many October birthdays in my family and in the people I know. I will contribute it to Valentines day :)

So what do they say about Libras?

Latin for "the Balance" or "the Scales", from the Greek word Zygos. Libra is balance and achieving balance is their life goal. Libra will work with concentration and relax with dedication. Libras can captivate others with their sharp intellects, allowing them to entertain people for hours, they are equally awesome listeners. Making decisions can certainly be tricky as you need to analyse things carefully in order to make the very best decision which often sees the scales get tipped back and forth in the process. Continual assessment, consideration and evaluation are mentally exhausting... but with all of these experiences come discernment and confidence.

Librans love beauty and can seem superficial as they place emphasis on the visual beauty, however they can also see unseen beauty in those that most of us would not see. Beauty flows through them in creative expressions like music as well as the arts.   Some Libras do seek perfection, which can make life trying for those who live with them.  Love and marriage is important to Libra. (My daughter is libra - so true!!)

Birthstones for Libras can be sapphire if born in September or topaz if born in October.

But wait there's more!

Don't limit yourself to one stone. So many may speak to you. Bloodstone for example is a great stone for Libras (my daughters favorite). It aligns all levels. It strengthens the will to 'do good'. (works with the Libras desire for justice) It helps you to be present in the moment. Bloodstone also assists to revitalise love, relationships and friendships.(Love and relationships are very important to Libras) Use to dispel states of bewilderment and obscure thought. (because you know Libras need order!)

So to honor Libras, I have made this pendant.

Sterling, Sapphire, September!

YAY for alliterations!

I love them :)

Still on my sapphire kick, this morning I made this little pendant.

Sapphires are a stone of hope where all else is hopeless. It is a stone of creative expression. Pulling on this creative expression, I did a very simple free form design from 12 ga sterling wire. The piece has some heft to it, so pendant hangs really nice on a cord.

I love this little nugget of sapphire. It has so much character. The blue is just screaming to get out!

"Chicken Slayer" Viking Pendant Necklace

A couple weeks ago I got the visit of a lifetime. My friend Jenny, of whom I had never met face to face, but we have been dear friends online for nearly 10 years, came to visit me from Sweden!!! We had 10 glorious days together doing everything we could think of and then some. We definitely didn't waste anytime, we were always busy. She brought me the greatest little gifts. One of them was this little brass pendant. She thought I could do something with it. The pendant is a replica of Viking jewelry. I got really excited when I looked at the pendant, because there was a dragon on it. She politely told me - "It is a chicken darling"

I am still not convinced


I couldn't wait to sit down and get to work on this. I paired up the pendant with this large TierraCast bead I have been hoarding for so long from Rings and Things , they no longer have it on their site :(

I knew I had to use iolite. Iolite is known by some as 'The Viking' stone. The vikings cut slabs of iolite very thin and held it up to the sky on very cloudy/foggy days to find the sun and help them navigate their ships. Iolite is also one of my favorite stones. So to incorporate that into the piece has even more meaning. I added rainbow obsidian and tourmaline, with little brass cap accents. I used seed beads to separate the beads, which also allows the design to have a better flow

I also wanted this to be a simple design, to compliment the 'age' of the pendant.

I am so excited about this piece. It has been a while since I have made something for myself. I am thrilled by this gift from my friend, and can't wait to wear it!

Cool Finds At The FleaMarket

Went to the flea market while Jo was in town. Is always fun to run around looking at treasures and trash.

This booth blew my mind. His work was amazing. I couldn't pass these up.




The pendant is an Irish 1/2 crown and the earrings are South African pennies.

I don't know if it against the law to 'deface' money like this, and I hope it isn't, because I love these so much!!!

Found some time this morning for me - *queue Mormon Tabernacle Choir* so I took advantage of it and made some new things.
Once again I struggled with the pictures...

God it felt good to sit at my workbench again! I have been wanting to work with these pendants for some time. I got them from my good friend Davinia of Back Pocket Designs. I love her work so much. My daughter has claimed the first one :)

Back Pocket Designs - Pendants

I have this wonderful friend - who is an AMAZING artist - Davinia of Back Pocket Designs. I am a complete and absolute junkie for her work. Not only can you buy her beautiful creations, but she is now sharing her polymer pendants on her store as well!!!!

Look what I bought!!!! She posted the blue flower pendants and the large spotted one on her blog and I just had to have them. I can't wait to work with them. Then just to sweeten the pot - she added a couple more as a big surprise!

Happy Birthday to me :) New Pendant

Today is my birthday, and I sat down this morning before work and made something for me. I have had this pendant bead for nearly a year and wasn't quite sure what to do with it. I was told it was carnelian, or sardonyx, but I think it is porcelain. Just from the looks of the holes.

It didn't take any time at all. I love the swirls, I was going for an abstract goddess look, if you know what I mean.




Then I made these earrings to go with it.



It is rare I make something with the intention of keeping it. I did something for me for a change, and it feels good!!!!
