"Citrine" Earring and Necklace Set - Abundance and Success

Big debate, is it really citrine or is it heat treated amethyst. If you are buying it as beads and you are getting a great deal, most likely it is heat treated amethyst. 

These little faceted briolettes were sold to me from Firemountain Gems as citrine (heat treated) and that is why I am a huge fan of their site. They know their product, and they share all information with their buyers. Plus the deals there are awesome!

These little beauties made the cutest little earring/necklace set. Tiny little faceted briolettes, wire wrapped with sterling wire, on a sterling loop. They are the perfect dainty length, and have just enough swing to them to be a bit sassy!

Beautifully uniform so it was easy to just pick two to make the earring set, and add one for the pendant.

Citrine is the stone of abundance and prosperity. It repels negative energy.

Three Tier Drop Earrings - Green Quartz -

I love these sweet little stack bead drop earrings. 

When I am done with a design and have a few beads left over, it is always fun to play around with the extra beads to see how they may form into a pair of earrings. 

For these earrings I used green quartz, faceted glass and ceramic beads, and wrapped in sterling. 

They are very light weight and playfully swing from your ear lobe. 

Green quartz, think heart chakra, so love and happiness, along with the color green for prosperity, beauty and good luck.

Sterling, Sapphire, September!

YAY for alliterations!

I love them :)

Still on my sapphire kick, this morning I made this little pendant.

Sapphires are a stone of hope where all else is hopeless. It is a stone of creative expression. Pulling on this creative expression, I did a very simple free form design from 12 ga sterling wire. The piece has some heft to it, so pendant hangs really nice on a cord.

I love this little nugget of sapphire. It has so much character. The blue is just screaming to get out!

December issue of Bead Trends

I was so excited to get my December issue of Bead Trends Magazine. I have a set published this month. I don't normally set out to do a set, it just happened.

This is a set made with dyed magnesite stones* from Rings & Things, sterling chain from ArtBeads and Swarovski crystals from Sedona Stones.

Glue-able challenge - 2 & 3

Here is a real serious attempt at the polymer clay and the glueable bracelet from Ring & Things.

I wanted to try and do something with a mill-ee-fee-your-ee style. I wanted to play with the idea and get a feel for how it is done.

I didn't document this one. This is my first attempt at the millefiori technique with polymer clay.
I created the pieces with the sculpty clay, baked them and finished them with a spray can of hi gloss.

I made a blue 'log' about 2" log and 1/2" in diameter. Then rolled out thinner 'logs' of brown and orange, and pressed them around the log. Then I flattened a piece of white and wrapped it around the 'log'. I compacted the log with my hand to make the design tight, and then rolled it lightly back and forth on the table to lengthen the log. Then I sliced it up, and pressed the pieces a little more with my fingertips to make them a bit more square. After baking them, I gave them a quick shot of hi gloss, and here ya go!

When I see gold I think of christmas and I think of those Brach's nougats...the peppermint ones. Dave from Rings & Things made a comment about making valentines type insult candy - So I went with a candy theme. I dug around and found a few more scraps of polymer clay. Using the same technique as before, I made an attempt at making a christmassy type candy style adornment to glue to the gold bracelet.

This has been fun, and I am rolling with more ideas!

Final touches

I am doing just that. Putting the final touches on a few things to get things ready to take to the arts council tomorrow.

I have no fingernails, my stomach is in knots, and i think, yes - I have a pimple on my chin.....*sigh*

Wrap me up

I played with wire yesterday.

This is an easy pendant style, with a wire wrapped look. The pendant is a bead, so you make a wire wrapped loop at one end - feed it thru the bead, and make a wire wrapped loop at the other. The extra wire you can create a design with, and then secure it at the top loop with a couple quick wraps.

This is autumn jade with a turquoise and crystal drop.



I made several loops of wire around a pen to create a coil. Snipped along the top of the coil to make jump rings. Soldered the rings closed and then added a wrapped piece of turquoise.





I call this one Spiders Garden. I was playing with the idea, and regret that I didn't use a base metal wire for practice. I am not sure it will stay this way. This may be the first prototype. It was a lot of fun but it needs more work. I found an earring, snipped of the post, threaded wire thru the gallery of the setting, and then went wrap crazy :)
