Rose Quartz Stack Bead Pendant Wire Wrapped in Copper - Jewelry with Meaning - Love and Forgiveness

An elegant and simple design!

A stack of five matte finish rose quartz beads wire wrapped together with copper wire.

I love the matte finish, it gives the pendant a look of mystery to me.
Did you know that even the number of beads can have a meaning in a design?
Five is said to be the number of humanity.

Rose quartz is the stone of love and forgiveness.  It helps with understand and having empathy with others. It clears out anger, jealousy, lowers stress of the heart, and allows healing of heart issues and dis-ease associated with holding on to such negative emotions.

I try to practice being peaceful and kind, and am grateful that somedays I have a rose quartz with me. It can be tough out there!!

Wow, humanity, love and forgiveness!!!!

If you like this pendant, you can find this one and more at my Etsy store!

Flood The Streets with Art and Scarf Drop

This weekend has been so busy, and I am so happy.

5 years ago Scott Wong brought to life his brain child - Flood the Streets with Art. Here is a little quip from Scott - "The goal is simple: On BLACK FRIDAY (Nov. 24th, 2017) I want every artist, human being, man, woman & child on our planet to drop one piece art they've created on the streets of their community for a random stranger to find, pick up, take home & love. Yes, for FREE.

Allow me to explain...

Here in the United States of America, we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day this year on Thursday, Nov. 23rd, 2017. We will spend the day with family, friends & loved ones giving thanks for everything in our lives we have to be thankful for. It's really loving and special and meaningful. ♥

But then...

On the following day a.k.a. BLACK FRIDAY (the day after we've given thanks for everything we have in life), we rush out in an uncivilized manner trampling complete strangers to death while pushing, shoving & acting like a complete lunatic so we can buy a big screen TV for twenty bucks. I'm speaking tongue-in-cheek, of course, but truth be told, it's not that far removed from what actually happens. I wish I were joking. :( "

I have participated the last four years and it is my favorite time of year. Being able to share my gratitude in the form of art means so much to me, it is very fulfilling.

I did a huge drop this year. Six paintings and jewelry. I heard back from one person who found my earrings!! That was so exciting, AND they are going to participate next year! It is spreading!!!

These are the pieces I dropped this year. All around Raleigh and Cary, NC. So much fun under the cover of darkness, dropping art for people to find.

And then there is my true heart - dropping scarves and hats around downtown Raleigh. It is getting cold at night, and there are so many people who do not have enough, that I love leaving warm items around for them to find!!!

During the Thanksgiving season, I am truly grateful for what I have, and who I have in my life. I love giving back out of gratitude and love to my community. It is that small ripple that starts the waves of change.

Tiny Cluster, Simple Statement

Sometimes I think I am ahead of the trend.

I love the simple look of the cluster necklaces, it gives just that tiny pop of flash and color. Making a statement without screaming it upon entrance. Cluster necklaces are a great way to use your one off beads from previous designs, a great way to make new memories out of an older piece of jewelry that may have broken, and you don't have all the pieces.  They are really versatile, and I am seeing them everywhere now!!!

I like to make them longer, opera length, for an over the head design, so you don't have to worry about a clasp (keeps costs down). Add a coordinating bead to the chain where the clasp would have been instead.  This is aventurine, jade, calcite and swarovski, for love and prosperity.  It also is brilliant fall colors.

Headed to the mountains this weekend, maybe I will take it with me and wear it in honor of the foliage change!

And as always, Be peaceful, Be kind.

Bohemian Style Jade and Brass Bracelet - Love

Jade is a lovely stone with a lovely meaning - love.

A lot of times the designs doesn't come to me, until I have picked out the stone.  In this case, I was cleaning and I found the Chinese coin charm, not thinking, I pitched the charm up onto my work bench and kept doing what I was doing. As I moved this there and piled that there, I kept moving the charm around as well. Every time I picked it up, I wanted to stop and make jewelry. I could see it in my head. Finally I succumbed to the pressure, and sat down and started to work. I came together so quick. Simple design, with simple aspects, but such a big message.

Love.

Here is a little bit more about what some say Jade means:

Jade is a stone of the heart.  It can attract and enhance love of all kinds. It is also a stone of fidelity and generosity. It is also considered to be good for the physical heart and for emotional balance and stability. It is used in crystal healing for increasing self-reliance. Jade is also very helpful as a stone of abundance.

So what ever you are doing today - dont' forget to love yourself!!!

Magic of Color - Dyed Stone and Copper Bracelet

When I create my pieces, I do so with meaning. I want each piece to mean something, have beauty for the wearers wardrobe and also for their soul.

To do this, I always gravitate to the metaphysical meaning of a stone, and work up from there, as opposed to working in color palettes. Color palettes are scary and confusing, pairing love and communication is way more easy :)

I picked up a couple strands at local retail chain totally out of impulse, because they were pretty. When I got home, I studied the beads.  I knew they were stone but what kind. I pulled out my trusty loop to look a bit closer, and even though I thought I may have seen some specs of hematite (which made me think it was dyed lapis) I still am not for sure, so I hesitate to 'label' the stones.

There is another side to this coin. Even though I do not know the stone, I do love the properties of the color blue. A beautiful deep blue, to help with communication and focus. Ever wonder why so many speakers wear navy blue suits? There is magic and yes, there is some psychology behind color.  :)

I paired this blue mystery stone with labradorite for clarity - see how easy that is - communication, focus and clarity. Couldn't get more simple that that, oh and yes, it is pretty too :)

Do you choose colors based on their properties?

Layers of an Acrylic Painting "De-Stressing Distress"

I am in awe of how artists can create a painting in one sitting.

Mine take days and days of layers and layers. Sometimes the suspense is overwhelming, I can't wait to see what it will look like.

I never know where I am going to go with the color or the texture. It changes with each layer.

Here is how I started

It is a lot to take in, it screams at you. It makes me feel like I am driving on the interstate, hell bent on getting to work, so much traffic, my knuckles are white on the wheel. I hate that feeling. There is A lot of color, A LOT of paint. So thick took 5 days to dry. In the thickness of the paint I scrawled in words and shapes. Kept it positive. I NEED that positive. Kinda like my mantra I guess.

Now it is dry, lets add more color!

I mixed three colors to get this one. Slapped it on, and then with a damp towel and a wet paint brush, removed color in patches. Removed that screaming - I was nearly deaf!

Let it dry.

How bout some more color!!

This was a bit much. I really scared myself. Thought I had went to far. The screaming started again. Same process, used a damp towel, wet brush, and A LOT of water to remove this paint in areas of the work area, and to lighten the over all color.

Finally I did a coat of white - (forgot to take a picture) the coat of white was really watered down. I had to stop the screaming. I applied it with a wet washcloth. It had a white wash look to it, made the painting very opaque. Didn't have the look I wanted yet. So I kept rubbing, and wetting, and rubbing. Even rubbed the paint off in one spot, but I liked the look of it and kept going. Finally - with the white wash just right, and still wet, I went over it with a high gloss glaze.

PERFECT!!!

The glaze reacted with the white washing and gave a great look to the final painting. I am in love.

I have named it "De-Stressing Distress".

It reminds me of an old pair of blue jeans. Soft, and torn. When you pull them on, they button just right and  you sigh with comfort. You can trace your finger around the stains on the thigh and remember the party where you danced and danced, and spilled your drink. How about the rip in the knee. The memory of bending down to pick up your child at the park, and they ripped, and smile. The hole in the pocket where all your change drops thru, and you silently cuss, because you keep meaning to mend it. Deep in the threads of these jeans hold the secrets of your happiness and when you pull them on nothing else matters.

Like the painting, if you look, the words and shapes can be seen, words like love and passion, words that are so important to us, and we tend to forget in our busy lives.

I want you to get lost in this painting, and feel the comfort it gives.

"Karma Clusters" Keeping the Design Simple

While I do like my jewerly to make a statement all on its own, I am finding a new appreciation for the simplicity of a design as well.

I love these small clusters on a simple chain. They don't over do it, and the colors I am using are not bold. This is the versatile choice - perfect for dressing up, to the office, or everyday.

This one is made up of rhodonite, amethyst, fluorite, rose quartz and coral. Peace and Love - who wouldn't want this with them everyday!

Hope and Harmony Bracelet - Bid for Charity!

I made this piece to represent hope and harmony, after reading about Ark R.A.I.N. Wildlife Sanctuary.  I heard about them by a cross post from my cousin. They were doing a call for auction items to help their cause. As I read about what they did, I knew what I needed to do.

This piece came easy, there was no denying the combination. Hope, harmony, self love and more

Beautiful jewelry with a message of hope - does it get much better?

KISS Collection - Message Necklaces

Most of us are familiar with the KISS theory (Keep It Simple Stupid) and I am adopting this for a new line of necklaces. Simple designs with a straight forward message. Not everyone is looking for an 'edge' with their style. Sometimes you don't want to be 'on' all the time, you just wanna blend. This is what this line is about. Amazonite and Agate - a combination of honesty and harmony.
Rose quartz and Jade - Love, love and more love :)
When the statement is not as important as the message. These designs say what you need them to say, simply, elegantly and honestly.

Peace and Love - Messages from a stone necklace

I love being inspired by one component of a design and starting the build from there. The glass heart pendant started this design. The green in the glass was a perfect compliment to the sandy colors of the jasper beads. Jasper is the stone of gentleness and nurturing. It is said to bring joy. Why not pair it up with that heart, and wear your heart out for all to see and bring joy to those around you!
The little brass clasp with the peace symbol - didn't take much to push me in that direction :) Amethyst, fluorite, apatite and tourmalated rose quartz. Coupled with the lampwork heart - all speak peace.
I added the blue shell that I found on the beach as a personal touch, and now I am a bit torn about it... Should I change it up? Does it need a different focal? Should I stop over analyzing it?

Garnet Necklace - Commissioned Piece

Did a commission piece over the weekend. First piece off of my new workstation :) They wanted something for love, protection and clarity of thought and also something just a notch above conservative.

I wanted something light, something fun, that would work with a sundress, or with a t-shirt.

I chose garnet, citrine and agate and threw in mother of pearl for accent for the stone combination, which worked out perfectly for the beach pallet for summer 2011.

Garnet:Remove negativity, romantic love, passion, sensuality, intimacy, career success, selfconfidence, awareness, commitment, regeneration, order, insight.
Citrine:Success, intuition, comfort, creativity, physical energy, wealth, mental awakening, protection, good fortune / luck,
Agate: Protection, good luck, balance body/mind/spirit, perceptiveness, strength, inspiration, awaken talents.
Mother of Pearl: Mental clarity, intuition, sensitivity, imagination, adaptability, cooperation, psychic, protection of children, purify environment.

Beach Trends for Spring/Summer 2011

Here is James doing some leveling of the hutch. He still has a few more finishing touches, trimming, etc.

But I couldn't wait. I began to organize and get stuff up off of the floor, and empty containers on my shelves. It is still a work in progress, and most likely the way I work, will always be.
